  • Patent number: 5601398
Abstract: An assembly for feeding fuel form a supply tank to an internal combustion engine, with a feed pump which is designed as a flow pump and the disk-shaped impeller of which rotates in rotation in a cylindrical pump chamber delimited by a suction cover and by an intermediate housing bearing on the latter and at the same time feeds fuel from a suction port in a suction cover to a delivery port in the intermediate housing to enlarge the production tolerances of a fit between the suction cover (7) on the intermediate housing, and in order to allow the two pump components to lift off from one another during the operation of the feed pump in order to flush out dirt particles from the pump chamber, the suction cover and the intermediate housing are braced relative to one another by means of a resilient connecting element and the suction cover and intermediate housing are permitted to move relative to each other in order to flush dirt from an area of the pump impeller.

  • Patent number: 5601422
Abstract: A fuel feed assembly with a feed pump of the roller-cell pump type, of which the pump rotor rotates eccentrically in a pumping chamber has a plurality of rollers which are guided in radial grooves of the disk-shaped pump rotor and are distributed uniformly over the circumference. When the pump rotor is rotating, the rollers run, as a result of the centrifugal force, on a bore wall of an intermediate ring radially delimiting the pumping chamber. The bore wall forms a running track. At the same time, the rollers delimit individual sickle-shaped pump rotor and the bore wall and the volume decreases from a suction port towards a delivery port as a result of the eccentricity of the pump rotor. At the same time, there is provided between the delivery port and suction port in the direction of rotation of the pump rotor a narrow-gap region which, according to the invention, is made so large that the pump working spaces passing through this region are closed completely.

  • Patent number: 5486087
Abstract: A unit for delivering fuel from a supply tank to an internal combustion engine, having a disklike impeller driven to revolve in a pump chamber, on whose circumference a number of blades are disposed, and having at least one supply conduit, disposed in the region of the impeller blades and open toward the impeller, in a chamber wall defining the pump chamber on the face end and axially adjoining the impeller, which supply conduit extends via a split ring around the pivot axis of the impeller from an inlet opening into the pump chamber to an outlet opening from it. In order to assure that sufficient fuel can be aspirated unthrottled in the presence of gas bubbles in the fuel, in particular when the fuel is hot, the supply conduit is embodied in the region of the inlet opening as larger by a factor of 2 than the usual supply conduit cross section; the cross section of the supply conduit then decreases continuously, beginning at the inlet end, forming a compression conduit.

  • Patent number: 5449269
Abstract: An aggregate for feeding fuel from a supply tank to an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle has a fluid pump having an impeller with a plurality of vanes distributed over its periphery on its both end surfaces, elements forming a pump chamber in which the impeller is rotated and including two wall parts limiting the pump chamber in direction of a rotary axis of the impeller at both sides and a housing part limiting the pump chamber in a radial direction, each of the wall parts having an end surface facing the impeller and being provided with a substantially ring-shaped feeding passage, at least one of the feeding passages having a connection with a suction side of the flow pump and at least the other of the feeding passages has a connection with a pressure side of the flow pump.
