  • Patent number: 10150227
Abstract: A process for producing pellets or granules comprising fibres of a lignocellulousic material, for use as a feedstock in plastics manufacture, conveying in a dry or wet air stream and applying to the fibres a liquid formulation comprising one or more polymers, monomers, or oligomers, forming the fibres into a solid product, and breaking down the solid product to produce said pellets or granules. Typically the conduit conveys the fibres in a plant for manufacture of fibre board.

  • Patent number: 8283389
Abstract: Method of forming a composition comprising impregnated polylactic acid (PLA) resin beads, by impregnating PLA resin beads with CO2. The method is carried out by contacting the beads with liquid CO2, and holding the impregnated beads at a temperature and pressure that prevents the beads from foaming while allowing the level of impregnated CO2 to reduce to about 4 to 20 weight % relative to the total weight of the beads and CO2.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Biopolymer Network Limited
Inventors: Michael Ralph Juergen Witt, Samir Shah
  • Patent number: 8012389
Abstract: A process for producing a thermoformable fibre-plastics composite product comprising lignolcellulosic or natural fibres, particularly but not exclusively useful as an intermediate product in subsequent manufacture, comprises conveying the fibres in a dry or wet air stream and applying to the fibres a thermoplastic binding agent, and forming the fibres into a solid or semi-solid product such as a panel, which is thermoformable. In at least a preferred embodiment the process may be carried out in known plant for manufacture of medium density fibre board.

  • Publication number: 20100029793
Abstract: A method of forming a composition of expanded polylactic acid (PLA) resin beads comprising impregnating PLA resin beads with CO2 and holding the impregnated beads at a temperature and pressure that prevents the beads from foaming while allowing the level of impregnated CO2 to reduce. The method may comprise pre-expanding the beads at a pre-expansion temperature. Promptly following pre-expansion or after a desired storage period, the method may comprise introducing the pre-expanded beads into a mould and further expanding and fusing the beads in the mould by application of a temperature greater than the temperature used for pre-expansion. Preferred moulded products include moulded blocks and shaped moulded products, especially blocks adapted to form packing material. Other preferred moulded products include convenience items such as containers including clamshell containers, pots, boxes, bowls, cups, plates and trays.

  • Publication number: 20080019411
Abstract: An excimer laser is disclosed in which a gas-discharge is formed for exciting an excimer-forming lasing-gas mixture. The gas discharge is formed between an elongated anode electrode and a elongated cathode electrode. The anode is in contact with a dielectric surface and the cathode is supported above the dielectric surface, laterally spaced from and parallel to the anode. The gas-discharge has a surface-discharge or sliding discharge portion extending from the anode over the dielectric surface, and a volume-discharge portion connecting the sliding-discharge portion to the cathode. The volume-discharge excites the lasing-gas mixture. A laser resonator is arranged to generate laser radiation from the excited gas mixture. The sliding-discharge has homogeneous, stable characteristics that are inherited by the volume-discharge. An ion-wind generator provides circulation of the lasing-gas mixture through the volume-discharge.

  • Patent number: 4897278
Abstract: A process for manufacturing textured meat and fish products includes comminuting muscle flesh to subcellular particle sizes, mixing the comminuted muscle flesh with a texturing agent and texture regulator, freezing the mixture, heating the mixture to pasteurize or sterilize it, crimping the mixture to form a crinkled sheet of dough, folding the crinkled sheet of dough into laminated layers and freezing the folded laminated layers along a predetermined direction to form a desired fibrous structure. The texturing agent is a polyanionic complexing agent, preferably a pectin having a particular degree of esterification, and the texture regulator is one or a mixture of protein-rich products, starch-rich products, fats, and salts of polyvalent cations.
