Patent number: 7836321Abstract: A mobile telephone handset (1) has its circuitry (11) to be driven by a rechargeable battery (17). The handset can to perform a data processing operation such as a download or a memory defragmentation, which requires battery power over a considerable period of time and a battery sensor (20) is coupled to the circuitry for indicating whether the battery has sufficient capability to complete the data operation. The circuitry (11) is configured to cease the data processing operation in the event that the battery is indicated to have insufficient capability to complete the operation. A battery charging sensor (19) indicates when an external battery charger is connected and the download or defragmention process is preferably carried out using the power of the charger rather than the battery.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2004Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Janne La. Patent number: 7721104Abstract: A system is provided for downloading pushed content includes a terminal capable of receiving service loading content that identifies download content and has a digital signature. The terminal is capable of authenticating the service loading content based upon the digital signature, and if the service loading content is authenticated, pulling the download content to the terminal. In this regard, the terminal is capable of authenticating the service loading content, and pulling the download content, in response to receiving the service loading content and independent of interaction from a user of the terminal. The terminal can also be capable of determining if an interruption occurs in receiving the download content such that the terminal receives less than the entire download content. And if an interruption occurs, the terminal can be capable of recovering the download content such that the terminal receives the plurality of data packets.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2003Date of Patent: May 18, 2010Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Juha H. Publication number: 20090233587Abstract: A method and system for transmitting data to a device is described. The method includes steps of comparing, in a server, a list of capabilities of the server against a list of capabilities of a mobile terminal and creating a list of capabilities in the server and not in the mobile terminal. The method and system wirelessly transmit, to the mobile terminal, a request to confirm the capabilities of the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal receives the request and the list of capabilities and compares the list of capabilities to current capabilities of the mobile terminal and then wirelessly transmits data identifying its capabilities to the server, the data including information of new capabilities of the mobile terminal. The server then updates the list of capabilities of the mobile terminal based on the information of new capabilities.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2009Publication date: September 17, 2009Applicant: NOKIA CORPORATIONInventors: Ahti Muhonen, Juha H. Patent number: 7548518Abstract: The present invention relates to receivers such as multi-carrier and cellular receivers. Cellular receivers, in the form of portable radiotelephones are commonplace, and their design and operation is well understood. Such portable radiotelephones can be used for making and receiving telephone calls, sending and receiving messages, and even browsing world-wide computer network such as the Internet. Many standards exist for portable radiotelephones, including global system for mobile communications (GSM), general radio packet service (GPRS) Receivers capable of receiving digital television signals, such as signals according to the terrestrial digital video broadcasting (DVB-T) standard are also commonplace. The present invention provides a method and apparatus for receiving and transmitting signals via multiple communication channels.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2007Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Juha H. Publication number: 20090111433Abstract: A method and system for transmitting (10) a multimedia message, wherein a multimedia message to be transmitted is processed by dividing the multimedia message into at least a first message portion and a second message portion. The first message portion is transmitted to a multimedia message service control element (70), and the second message portion is transmitted to a media charger server element (50). A receiver terminal (20) is notified about the transmission of the multimedia message. The transmission of the first message portion from the multimedia message service control element (70) to the receiver terminal (20) is requested, and the transmission of the second message portion from the media charger server (50) element to the receiver terminal (20) is requested. At the receiver terminal (20) the first message portion and the second message portion are combined for obtaining the multimedia message transmitted.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2005Publication date: April 30, 2009Inventors: Ahti Muhonen, Juha H. Patent number: 5990882Abstract: A consumer's interactive home terminal equipment includes a television (1). video tape recorder (2) and a telephone apparatus (6) or bidirectional paging device. The video tape recorder serves as both a mass storage and an input channel for new basic information, the television is a display device, and the telephone apparatus, advantageously a digital mobile phone, is a bidirectional communications channel to the outside world. A video cassette (3), which contains in picture format certain input forms, is inserted in the video tape recorder and an input form is displayed (10) on the television screen (4) to the user. The user fills out the necessary input fields (11) and the picture is converted (12) into a telephone short message or data call to be sent forward (13, 14, 15). An acknowledgment or other answer (16) received via telephone is stored (17) on the video cassette in picture format.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1997Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Nokia Mobile Phones Ltd.Inventors: Pekka Heinonen, Harri Okkonen, Jeremy E Santos, Juha H.
