  • Patent number: 8116740
Abstract: A method in electronic messaging in a mobile telecommunications network for mobile communication terminals is disclosed. The method involves, in a sender terminal, the steps of generating an electronic message, associating the electronic message with a message notification, and representing the electronic message and the message notification in a signal which is transmittable over the mobile telecommunications network to a receiver terminal. The signal is adapted, when received in the receiver terminal, for performance of the message notification in a user interface of the receiver terminal as a notification of the reception of the electronic message. Further disclosed are an associated method in a receiver terminal, and a sender terminal and a receiver terminal capable of performing the respective method, as well as a system including such sender and receiver terminals.

  • Publication number: 20070066310
Abstract: A mobile telecommunications system, and associated methods and mobile communication terminals, is suitable for use by a first user of a first mobile communication terminal and a second user of a second mobile communication terminal, the mobile telecommunications system comprising electronic messaging infrastructure capable of conveying a non-language message, generated in response to an actuation by said first user of an input device included in said first terminal, from said first terminal to said second terminal, such that said non-language message is automatically received and performed in a user interface of the second terminal without manual intervention by said second user.

  • Patent number: 6963762
Abstract: A mobile phone or telecommunications terminal that sends and receives tactile icons (tactile sensation patterns, including vibration patterns) discernible by feel to a user of the mobile phone or terminal, indicative of a message desired to be communicated between users of such a mobile phone or terminal (not information concerning the operation of the mobile phone or terminal). The mobile phone or terminal includes a source of tactile sensations (such as a vibratory device) that produces a tactile sensation in response to control signals issued by a controller when a message including a tactile icon is received; the control signals are based on instructions included in the mobile phone or terminal on how to interpret a tactile sensation pattern. The source of tactile sensations is for example an eccentric electric motor, a source of puffs of air, an electric signal, a razor-type linear vibrator, a solenoid, or a piezoelectric material.

  • Patent number: 6959207
Abstract: In an emotional notification system, information about another party is entered into and stored in a terminal of a first party along with one or more data objects associated with the second party (such as an email from, to or about the second party, a file originated by the second party, etc.). Each time the first party activates at his terminal through an interface module a data object associated with a second party, a notifying message is sent to the second party to make the second party aware that the first party is devoting attention to the second party and to promote bonding between the two parties. The notifying message may take one of various, preferably unobtrusive forms, such as a vibration of a terminal belonging to the second party, which minimizes any distraction caused by the notifying message.
