Patent number: 7648613Abstract: The invention comprises a method and an arrangement in a paper machine or the like close to a moving web (29) usually supported against a wire (1), and a paper machine including such an arrangement, and a sealing device having several such arrangements (100). According to the invention, a movable sealing (5) is arranged in the drying section of a paper machine, between two regions (3, 4) with different pressures. Certain air amounts (V1, V2) are supplied to and/or discharged from each side of the sealing (5) in order to create certain pressures in said regions. Air can move between said regions only through certain paths. In normal operating situations the seal (5) according to the invention is automatically adjusted to the desired position in relation to the web.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2005Date of Patent: January 19, 2010Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventor: Juha Leimu

Patent number: 6517430Abstract: A supply air system for supplying air e.g. into a machine room. The supply air system comprises a supply air unit (12), to which means are connected for supplying the supply air from the outside air to the internal space, and an air treatment unit (14) in which means (58, 64) are arranged for treating the air supplied into the internal space. The units are interconnected by at least one duct (16, 16′), equipped with a blower. The supply air system further comprises an air distribution plate or the like for distributing the treated air into the machine room. The above-mentioned units are mounted on top of each other, so that the supply air unit (12) is arranged above the air treatment unit, so that an air chamber (20) for the treated air is formed between said units. At least a part of the air chamber borders to said air distribution plate (18, 18′).Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2002Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventor: Juha Leimu

Publication number: 20010017071Abstract: Method and arrangement for removing dust in connection with the sheet cutter of a pulp drying machine or equivalent in which a pulp web is slit in a slitter unit into longitudinal component webs. The longitudinal component webs are further cut in a cutter unit in the cross direction into sheets. Dust formed in connection with the slitter unit and/or the cutter unit in the sheet cutter is removed by at least two dust removing devices placed in the vicinity of the slitter unit and/or the cutter unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 1999Publication date: August 30, 2001Inventors: JENS PETTER ENKVIST, JAN LINDSTROM, LARS HAKAN MIKAEL HANNUS, RAMI AALTONEN, JUHA LEIMU

Patent number: 6228148Abstract: A method and an apparatus for separating solid or drop-like particles from an air flow is provided. The air flows through a separator chamber between an electrode, ion generating means or like particle charging device disposed in the separator chamber, and a grounded collector surface, so that the particles are charged by the charging device and accumulate on the collector surface. The air flows along a substantially spiral path around the charging device in at least a part of the separator chamber so that due to the action of centrifugal force at least a portion of the particles pass toward the grounded collector surface at the periphery of the chamber. A small flow of purified air flows downwardly in a central part of the separator chamber so that it washes the charging device in the separator chamber.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1999Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Assignee: Velmet CorporationInventors: Rami Aaltonen, Juha Leimu, Petri Norri

Patent number: 6148831Abstract: A method for cleaning a web by removing dust and other particles therefrom in which a blowing is directed at a web to cause the separation of dust from the web and a suction effect is applied to the web to remove the dust separated from the web. A vortex flow may be produced before the dust separating blowing in the running direction of the web to prevent carriage of the dust into the environment and to compensate for the suction effect on the runnability of the web.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1998Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Valmet CorporationInventors: Jan Lindstrom, Juha Leimu

Patent number: 5800679Abstract: A device in a paper machine or in a finishing device of a paper machine for removing dust in which a blowing is directed at a web to cause the separation of dust from the web and a suction effect is applied to the web to remove the dust separated from the web. A vortex flow is produced before the dust separating blowing in the running direction of the web to prevent carriage of the dust into the environment and to compensate for the suction effect on the runnability of the web. In the device, blow elements produce a blowing that separates dust from the web and suction elements produce a suction effect so as to remove the dust that is separated out of connection with the web. The device includes an arrangement for producing a vortex flow before the dust separation blowing in the running direction of the web to prevent carriage of the dust into the environment and to compensate for the suction effect.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1996Date of Patent: September 1, 1998Assignee: Valmet CorporationInventors: Jan Lindstrom, Juha Leimu
