Publication number: 20070083790Abstract: Image or other data is stored in a memory. A first validation parameter (e.g., a checksum) is determined for the data stored in the memory at a first time, and stored. A second validation parameter is determined for the data stored in the memory at a second time, and also stored. The stored first and second validation parameters are then compared. In this manner, corruption of data in the memory may be determined by the comparison. In the case where the compared first and second validation parameters are not identical (within a threshold in certain embodiments), the data stored in the memory is updated. As applied to graphical image data, this is seen as advantageous over the prior art approach of periodically updating a frame memory even when no new image data set is present. Apparatus and computer program products are also detailed.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2005Publication date: April 12, 2007Inventors: Juha Nurmi, Kaj Saarinen

Publication number: 20060282711Abstract: The invention relates to a recovery of a hardware module of an electronic device from a malfunction state. The hardware module is connected via a signal line to a recovery component of the device, a state of the signal line being controlled by the hardware module. The recovery component monitors a state of the signal line. Whenever the signal line is detected not to assume a predetermined state during a predetermined period of time, the recovery component causes a hardware reset of the hardware module.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2005Publication date: December 14, 2006Inventors: Juha Nurmi, Kaj Saarinen

Publication number: 20050220232Abstract: A mobile station (10) includes a plurality of sub-assemblies coupled together by a plurality of data communication buses (22) connected to ports (20). At least one port includes a Multi-level Analog Signaling (MAS) circuit arrangement that includes a transmitter to encode data bits represented by multi-level analog signals. A data communications bus that couples the transmitter to a receiver in another port includes at least two multi-level, possibly differential signal buses for conveying the encoded data bits such that, on each multi-level signal bus, during each data bit period the signal level is required to change from a first signal level to a second, different signal level. The transmitter indicates a data boundary, such as the beginning or the end of multi-bit frame, to the receiver by holding one of the multi-level signal buses of the at least two signal buses at the same level for at least two consecutive bit periods.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2004Publication date: October 6, 2005Inventors: Mika Kunnari, Juha Nurmi, Kaj Saarinen

Patent number: 6821339Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the crystallization of substances having a narrow metastable supersaturation zone. In the process the saturation of a solution is gradually increased and the solution is seeded for the crystallization. The seeding is performed at a seeding point which is selected in response to a signal received from said process indicating imminent or initial spontaneous nucleation. The process provides a good crystal yield and a crystalline product having a uniform crystal structure and a narrow crystal size distribution.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2002Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: Finnfeeds Finland OyInventors: Kristian Eriksson, Juha Nurmi, Jouko Virtanen

Patent number: 6821535Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the hard panning of chewable cores in a pan or drum wherein a syrup of a crystallizable sugar or polyol is intermittently sprayed over a bed of the cores and the cores are dried between sprayings with a flow of air. The speed and efficiency of the panning process is increased by controlling the drying of the cores between sprayings by controlling parameters of the drying air in such a way as to intentionally leave a substantial residual moisture in the drying coating layer at the start of a subsequent spraying phase. The chewable products are preferably xylitol coated chewing gums.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2001Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: Xyrofin OyInventors: Juha Nurmi, Tammy Pepper, Juha Oravainen, Mike Bond, Ian Fairs
