  • Publication number: 20230175687
Abstract: A reactor system and control method. The method includes feeding solid fuel and oxygen containing gas to a first fluidized bed reactor to form a fluidized bed of particles and combusting a first portion of the fuel in the bed with the oxygen containing gas to generate hot bed particles and a first stream of hot flue gas, conveying the first stream to the flue gas channel, transferring hot bed particles including a second portion of the solid fuel at a predetermined hot particles transfer rate from the first reactor to a second fluidized bed reactor, feeding fluidizing gas to the second reactor to form a second fluidized bed, and transferring bed particles from the second reactor to the first. The method includes first and second operation modes. In the first, the fluidizing gas is oxygen containing gas and, in the second, the gas includes steam, CO2, or inert gas.

  • Patent number: 9593283
Abstract: A method of controlling a circulating fluidized bed gasifier includes feeding first and second portions of particulate material to be gasified through inlets in a gasifier. Oxygen and steam are fed through a bottom grid into a lower portion of the gasifier to fluidize the bed. Product gas and entrained particles are discharged from an upper portion of the gasifier. Particles are separated from the product gas and a portion of the separated particles is returned to the lower portion. A portion of the returned particles is oxidized to generate heat. Heat and oxidizing products from the lower portion are transferred to the center portion to generate the product gas. A ratio of the first and second portions of particulate material to be gasified is determined on the basis of a measured temperature profile so as to control the vertical temperature distribution in the gasifier.

  • Publication number: 20140093828
Abstract: A boiler system includes an arrangement for drying fuel material to be combusted in the boiler system. A combustion chamber combusts fuel material, and generates ash and flue gases. An ash removal conduit connected to the combustion chamber leads ash out of the combustion chamber. A flue gas conduit connected to the combustion chamber leads Hue gases out of the combustion chamber. A flue gas heat recovery system, arranged to the flue gas conduit, recovers heat from the flue gases. A fuel dryer, provided with a first heat transfer device, transfers heat into the fuel to be dried. A second heat transfer device is arranged in connection with the flue gas conduit downstream of the flue gas heat recovery system. A third heat transfer device is arranged in connection with the ash removal conduit and a fourth heat transfer device is arranged in heat transfer connection with the fuel dryer.

  • Patent number: 7947095
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for gasifying carbonaceous material, the apparatus including a gasification reactor, to which oxygen-containing primary gas and secondary gasification gas are introduced, whereby a portion of the material to be gasified is gasified to product gas, residual carbon contained in the fly ash extracted from the product gas is combusted in a cyclone combustor, and the exhaust gas from the cyclone combustor is guided to above the bottom level of the gasification reactor to act as secondary gasification gas.

  • Patent number: 6994497
Abstract: An apparatus for pneumatically conveying particulate material containing reaction products of a high pressure reactor from a supply vessel at a pressure of at least two bar to a receiving vessel at a considerably lower pressure. The apparatus includes a conveyor line attached to the supply vessel, a collecting vessel between the conveyor line and the receiving vessel, the collecting vessel including (i) a discharge conduit for the carrier gas, (ii) a device for controlling the discharge velocity of the carrier gas from the collecting vessel, and (iii) a device for controlling the pressure of the material collected in the collecting vessel, and a device for conveying the material directly from the collecting vessel to the receiving vessel essentially at the same pressure as is prevailing in the receiving vessel.

  • Patent number: 6401635
Abstract: Process for recycling of liquid carton waste material or other similar waste material having fibrous, metal and plastics materials. The process includes introducing the waste material and a slushing liquid into a slushing apparatus and slushing of the waste material to thereby form defibrated fibrous material therein. The treated waste material is then separated into (i) a fiber suspension which includes the defibrated fibrous material, and (ii) a reject portion which includes the metal and plastics materials. The obtained fiber suspension is cleaned and the fibrous material therein is reclaimed for further use. The reject portion is introduced into a fluidized bed gasifier so as to gasify the plastics therein to produce a hydrocarbon product gas, which is thereafter separated from the metal material.

  • Patent number: 5658359
Abstract: In a fluidized bed reactor system having a gas cooler, with cooling surfaces, downstream of a first cyclone separator, the cooling surfaces are cleaned by introducing sufficient concentration of bed particles into the gas during, or just prior to, cooling, so that the particles mechanically dislodge deposits from, and thereby clean, the cooling surfaces. The particles are then removed downstream of the cooler by a second separator, and the bed particles separated by the second separator may be returned to the fluidized bed reactor at or just before the cooler to again be used to effect cooling. Cleaning may be practiced in spaced time intervals only (e.g. periodically or intermittently), or continuously.
