  • Patent number: 11891758
Abstract: A blade element pair (20) for a refiner (1, 2, 3) is intended for refining fibrous material. Each blade element (5, 5?, 8, 8?) of the blade element pair (20) has a refining surface (6, 9) with blade bars (16, 18) and blade grooves (17, 19) extending along the blade element (5, 5?, 8, 8?), and openings (14,15) extending through the blade element (5, 5?, 8, 8?). The openings (14, 15) in one of the blade elements (5, 5?, 8, 8?) is at different axial (A) or radial (R) positions from the openings (14,15) in the other blade element (5, 5?, 8, 8?) when the blade elements (5, 5?, 8, 8?) of the blade element pair (20) are set substantially opposite to each other.

  • Publication number: 20230204489
Abstract: A solution for controlling cellulose processing includes performing optically first measurements of the cellulose during the processing, performing second measurements of the cellulose by directing optical radiation to the cellulose, the radiation including at least one beam that is polarized and at least one separate beam is non-polarized, measuring attenuations and parameters of polarization of the radiation interacted with the cellulose and determining size of particles in the cellulose based on at least one comparison of the parameters of polarization and the attenuations. The processing is controlled based on the first measurements until a given threshold of the first measurements has been reached and thereafter controlling the processing based on the second measurements.

  • Publication number: 20210301470
Abstract: A method and an arrangement (1) for producing nanofibrillar cellulose, wherein lignocellulose-containing fibre material is refined to separate nanofibrils. The method comprises refining the lignocellulose-containing fibre material in at least one refining zone (20) in one or more refiners (5) to separate nanofibrils, supplying the fibre material to be refined into the at least one refining zone of at least one refiner through at least one opening (12, 19) in the refining surface (11, 18) of at least one refining element (7, 13) and/or discharging the fibre material already refined in the at least one refining zone of at least one refiner out of the at least one refining zone through at least one opening (12, 19) in the refining surface (11, 18) of at least one refining element (7, 13), and operating the said at least one refiner to produce a specific edge load (SEL) of less than three J/m in the refining.

  • Patent number: 7322539
Abstract: The invention relates to a refining surface in a refiner for defibering material containing lignocellulose, which refiner has two coaxially rotating refining surfaces. The material being defibered is fed between the refining surfaces that both have grooves and bars. According to the invention, at least some of the refining surfaces have on their outer surface a bevel that becomes lower starting from the incoming direction of the bars of the other refining surface so that when the refining surfaces rotate relative to each other, a force that pushes the refining surfaces away from each other is created between them.
