Abstract: A near field communications antenna is described, the antenna comprising a single conductive loop connected to a transformer, the single conductive loop being a loop without a plurality of turns or coils. In some examples there is a method of operation of a near field communications antenna comprising applying power to a transformer which is connected to a single conductive loop, the single conductive loop being a loop without a plurality of turns or coils, such that a magnetic field generated in the transformer transforms the impedance of the single conductive loop into a range suitable for near field communications.
