  • Patent number: 8446484
Abstract: Disclosed is an image signal processing chain or functionality having an image data scaler. A method includes receiving a stream of image data having a first resolution; scaling the received stream of image data using a substantially freely configurable downscaling ratio to generate scaled image data having a second resolution that is less than the first resolution; outputting the scaled image data to at least one of a viewfinder image signal processing functionality or a video image signal processing functionality to create image data for at least one of display to a user or provide to a video encoder; and during at least one of receiving, scaling or outputting, simultaneously storing the stream or a subset of the stream of image data having the first resolution into a memory as a set of frames of image data for being processed as needed.

  • Patent number: 7881563
Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new method system, apparatus and software product for correcting a geometrical distortion of an image using a hybrid interpolation technique by a digital image processor. After calculating corrected coordinates of the pixels in the image, the interpolation of color components of the pixels can be performed by using the corrected coordinates, wherein at least one color component is interpolated using a quality which is different from quality interpolators used for other color components.

  • Publication number: 20080260291
Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new method, apparatus and software product for image binning (downscaling) according to a predetermined procedure for a pre-selected color arrangement (e.g., a Bayer arrangement) by substantially maintaining a phase of channels (represented by selected colors) for reducing/elimination of artifacts in images taken by an electronic device. Several binning or scaling modes where the center points of each binned (e.g., averaged) pixel are arranged in the pre-selected color arrangement and maintain the phase of the channels are described.

  • Publication number: 20060050784
Abstract: A method and device for transcoding digital images where at least portions of a first image coded according to a first method is decoded for obtaining first coefficients of a luminance component and chrominance components of the first image, where the chrominance components are subjected to a combined inverse quantization according to the first method and quantization according to a second method. The combined inverse quantization and quantization respectively uses a chrominance quantization matrix and a luminance quantization matrix for obtaining second coefficients for chrominance components of the second image having the same chroma format as the JPEG image. Finally, the first coefficients of the luminance component of the first image and the second coefficients of the chrominance components of the second image are coded for obtaining the second image decodable according to the second method.

  • Publication number: 20050175099
Abstract: A transcoder is provided for transcoding data comprising a group of macroblocks representing a frame of data, where the frame of data can include a plurality of sample lines each having a plurality of samples. The transcoder includes a decoder capable of decoding input data to thereby generate prediction error and decoded image data in the spatial domain. The transcoder also includes a downsampler capable of downsampling the prediction error or the decoded image data in a first (e.g., horizontal) direction and/or a second (e.g., vertical) direction different than the first direction to generate a downsampled macroblock in the spatial domain. In addition, the transcoder includes an encoder. The encoder, then, is capable of encoding the downsampled macroblock into output data.
