  • Publication number: 20070067476
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for predicting and managing end-to-end quality of service (QoS) and capacity in systems using a telecommunication service grid architecture. A Service Level Specification (SLS) is provided to specify a service offered by the service grid. A Service Level Agreement (SLA) is provided to specify capacity and quality of service (QoS) characteristics between a client and the service. The client then instantiates the SLA with the service running on the service grid, and a grid node is provided to host a service configuration with the specified capacity and quality of service (QoS).

  • Publication number: 20070053328
Abstract: The invention relates to a mechanism for maintaining a secure tunnel in a packet-based communication system. A secure tunnel is established between a security gateway and a mobile terminal being located at a first address in a first network, wherein the security gateway connects the first network to a second network and the mobile terminal has a second address that identifies the mobile terminal in the second network. In the gateway, the tunnel is identified based on the second address in packets destined for the mobile terminal from the second network. A change is detected in the first address of the mobile terminal and an update message including a new address value of the first address is sent to the security gateway. Based on the update message, the first address associated with the secure tunnel is updated in the security gateway.

  • Publication number: 20050198306
Abstract: A system for accessing at least one Virtual Private Network (VPN) includes a terminal, and can include at least one Security Policy Database (SPD). The terminal is capable of communicating with a VPN client and at least one application. The VPN client, in turn, is capable of defining at least one VPN access point, each VPN access point including an associated physical access point and VPN policy. Thereafter, the VPN client can access at least one VPN based upon the VPN access point(s) to thereby establish at least one data connection from at least one application across the at least one VPN. In addition, the VPN client can be capable of downloading at least one VPN policy from the SPD. A system for managing at least one Virtual Private Network (VPN) policy is also provided, where the VPN polic(ies) are for use in accessing at least one VPN.

  • Publication number: 20050198304
Abstract: A system and method for using a network access point to implement transparent Web Service functionality between processing deficient terminals and Web Service providers by allowing the terminals to access Web Services using abbreviated Web Service requests. The abbreviated Web Service requests are then translated into conventional Web Service requests by the network access point and subsequently forwarded onto the Web Service provider. The conventional Web Service response is then optionally translated into an abbreviated response to accommodate the processing deficiencies of the Web Service requester.

  • Patent number: 6914944
Abstract: The invention pertains in general to the testing of the operation of radio and other data transmission apparatus. In particular the invention pertains to the testing of the operation of a digital radio apparatus on the basis of error statistics. In order to test functions relating to data transmission, a simulation system produces a pseudorandom bit sequence or some other test sequence which is packed into downlink frames and sent to the data transmission apparatus tested. In accordance with the invention, a known number of errors are generated in the test sequence. As the data transmission apparatus tested compares the received test sequence to the sequence it has produced, it detects the errors in the received sequence and compiles various error statistics, e.g., in the form of bit error ratio (BER) or frame erasure ratio (FER).

  • Patent number: 6856802
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and associated hardware units for testing the functioning of downlink data communication in a mobile station (202, 802, 902). The mobile station is equipped for receiving (302, 805) a signal in the downlink direction and for sending (312, 808) a signal in the uplink direction. As a part of the method, a test signal (711, 715, 716, 805) is received in the downlink direction. The received test signal is compared (208, 713, 908) to a known form of the test signal. There is produced and temporarily stored (209, 806, 909) information about errors which were detected in the received test signal during the comparing step. In the uplink direction a signal is sent (714, 717, 808) representing the stored information about errors.

  • Patent number: 6687499
Abstract: To test the functioning of downlink data communication a mobile station comprises means (301, 302, 303, 304, 326) for receiving a signal in the downlink direction and means (331, 310, 311, 312, 313) for sending a signal uplink. It receives a test signal in the downlink direction (301, 302, 602) and compares the received test signal to a known form of the test signal (208, 603). In addition, the mobile station stores information produced by the comparison about errors detected in the received test signal (209) and sends uplink a signal representing the information stored (312, 313, 604).

  • Patent number: 5233608
Abstract: A method of and a device for receiving data in packet form. In the method, a synchronization with incoming data is searched for by using a receiving modem, and first clock pulses in correct synchronization with the data are generated and the synchronized clock pulses are supplied to a receiver circuit system to ascertain the synchronization and to start receiving. To reduce repetitions necessary due to a data break after the reception of data has started, second clock pulses generated by an outer circuit are synchronized substantially to the same frequency and the same phase as the first synchronized clock pulses and the clock pulses to be supplied to the receiver circuit system are replaced for the time of the latter part of the data packet by the second clock pulses generated by the outer circuit.

  • Patent number: 5146081
Abstract: The invention relates to a contact display panel circuitry in which the phototransistors are on two adjacent sides of the contact display panel and the diodes emitting infrared radiation to the phototransistors are on the opposite sides, and in which, under the control of shift registers, each phototransistor in turn is coupled to a common line, the logic circuit of the device being capable of computing the location of a possible contact point on the basis of changes in the signal in the common line. According to the invention the use of controllable switches and numerous resistors and capacitors is avoided by coupling in series with the phototransistor a diode in such a manner that the collector of the phototransistor is coupled to the transfer register and the emitter is coupled via the said diode to the common line.

  • Patent number: 5140153
Abstract: The invention relates to a circuitry for compensating the effect of external light on infrared-sensitive phototransistors in a contact display panel, the phototransistors being coupled via diodes to a common line. The compensation circuitry is a voltage-dependent resistor between the common line and the ground of the circuit, the resistance value of the resistor decreasing as the direct-voltage level of the line rises. The resistor is preferably a transistor circuit.
