  • Publication number: 20080146242
Abstract: A method is provided for a user equipment device to request an uplink transmission resource allocation from a base station. The method includes determining whether there is a need for the resource allocation, providing an uplink resource request to be combined with another message if the need for the resource allocation is present, combining the uplink resource request with the other message to form a combined message, and transmitting the combined message to the base station for requesting the resource allocation. The combined message may be a hybrid automatic repeat request message with an uplink resource request field.
