  • Patent number: 7826052
Abstract: A method to correct measurement error in a resonance energy-transfer assay, including exciting anti-Stokes photoluminescent donors with at least one wavelength of light which is greater than an emission wavelength of acceptor molecules; measuring emission at the acceptor's emission wavelength and which differs from the donor's emission wavelength in at least two different time windows; a first time window within the time window defined by the excitation light pulse and a second non-overlapping time window which follows the first time window; and correcting the emission signal, which includes signals originating from non-radiative and radiative energy transfer, within the first time window by estimating the ratio of the signals from non-radiative and radiative energy transfer or the signal originating from radiative energy transfer using at least one emission signal measured in the second time window.

  • Publication number: 20080174766
Abstract: This invention relates to a method to correct for error in an anti-Stokes photoluminescence measurement in a Foerster-type resonance energy-transfer assay. The method comprises the steps of exciting anti-Stokes photoluminescent molecules, ions, phosphors, chelates, or particles, i.e. donors of the assay, with one wavelength or multiple wavelengths of light wherein the wavelength or wavelengths are greater than that of an emission wavelength of acceptor molecules in the assay; measuring emission light signal at a wavelength, which is the emission wavelength of the acceptor molecules in the Foerster-type resonance energy-transfer assay, and which differs from the emission wavelength of the anti-Stokes photoluminescent donor in at least two different time windows; a first time window within the time window defined by the excitation light pulse, i.e.

  • Publication number: 20060127279
Abstract: The object of the invention is a multifunction instrument (10 ) for measuring biochemical and medical samples, which are preferably placed into the wells (13) of the sample plates (12) and measured by a detector (20). The detector is movable with slide (26, 27) and guide (22, 23) elements so that a rotating device (14) can turn the detector into vertical position for liquid scintillation counting and/or luminescence counting. The second horizontal position and light path (30) is provided for fluorescence measuring with a light source (40) for excitation. Also an absorbance detector (50) is included.

  • Patent number: 5268574
Abstract: A transfer device for cassettes containing radioactive samples and a cassette system in a gamma counter provided with a well-type detector. The transfer device comprises a path (61), by which cassettes (11, 12, 13) can be moved one at a time to a lifting position where sample containers can be lifted and moved to the measuring unit (50) for measuring. At the lifting position a vertical long side of the cassette (11, 12, 13) is locked in place against a vertical surface or edge (63) of the table (61) so that the distance between the center of the sample container (17) in the cassette from the vertical surface or edge of the table is substantially directly proportional to the radius of the sample container. The cassette system comprises at least two different cassettes (11, 12, 13) which are of the same length but which can take a different number of adjacently placed sample containers (17 ) of different sizes. The sample containers in each cassette are the same size.

  • Patent number: 5194733
Abstract: A multipurpose gamma counter enabling measurement of one sample at a time or alternatively two or more samples at a time and a method for sample handling in gamma measuring. The gamma counter is characterized in that the measuring unit and/or the grip unit for the sample containers are fully or partly formed of replaceable modules so that one or more necessary modular units can be fitted on the gamma counter depending on the measuring method in use at each time. The method is characterized in that, if the samples are research samples, they are measured one at a time in the detector of the research measuring chamber module and, if the samples are RIA samples, they are measured in the first place at least two at a time in the detector of the RIA measuring chamber module.

  • Patent number: 5185525
Abstract: The invention relates to a changer mechanism for individual measurement of radioactive samples in a gamma counter. The changer mechanism comprises an identifying element for identifying sample containers of different sizes and a transferring device for transferring the sample containers to the measuring unit for measuring, and back therefrom after measuring. According to the invention, the changer mechanism comprises a lifting device having a grip unit for lifting and transferring the sample from the transfer unit to the measuring unit. The grip unit is provided with grip elements for transferring samples of different sizes based on the information obtained from the identifying unit.
