  • Patent number: 5835526
Abstract: In accordance with the invention the channel equalization factors in a communication system can be calculated at a base station and transmitted to a mobile station in order to effect the equalization at reception. Alternatively, the channel equalization can be effected at the base station also in connection with the transmission to the mobile station, in addition to the normal equalization made at reception. The construction of the mobile station is simplified when the channel equalizer or the calculation of the equalization factors can be omitted.

  • Patent number: 5564074
Abstract: A Time Division Duplex (TDD) communications system includes at least one base station having a first transmitter and a first receiver, and at least one radiotelephone having a second receiver for receiving a first radio frequency signal from the base station during a reception period and a second transmitter for transmitting a second radio frequency signal to the base station during a transmission period. The first radio frequency signal and the second radio frequency signal are characterized by having substantially the same center frequency and bandwidth. The radiotelephone further includes a signal measuring circuit having an input coupled to an output of the second receiver for measuring a signal level of a received first radio frequency signal during a reception period.

  • Patent number: 5420889
Abstract: In a decoding system according to the invention, a digital signal received from an AWGN channel interfered by pulse interferences is so decoded (8) that the AGC control signal (10) of the RF/IF circuits of the reception is produced by median filtering (21) for the essential removal of the effect of pulse interferences, and that the interference is measured using a linear metric, whereby an external interference estimation circuit (30) is preferred.
