  • Patent number: 7472402
Abstract: A disk drive includes a chassis and first and second disk-positioning members mounted respectively on two opposite sides of the chassis. The first and second disk-positioning members have two straight inner portions extending perpendicularly and respectively from the opposite sides of the chassis to define a first distance therebetween, and two outer portions extending inclinedly and respectively from the inner straight portions in such a manner to define a second distance therebetween. The second distance is longer than the first distance. When an optical disk is moved to a reading and/or writing position from a temporary position, the inclined outer portions of the first and second disk-positioning members are spaced apart from the disk to permit smooth rotation thereof.

  • Patent number: 7372782
Abstract: The present invention relates to a disc detecting method in a multi-disc optical storage apparatus, which comprises receiving an electronic signal and determining whether to perform a complete disc detecting process or not when the multi-disc optical storage apparatus is turned on or a multi-disc magazine is inserted into the multi-disc optical storage apparatus. If the multi-disc optical storage apparatus decides not to perform the complete disc detecting process, the multi-disc optical storage apparatus can enter to be standby to wait for further commands from users. If the multi-disc optical storage apparatus decides to perform the complete disc detecting process, the detecting result will be then stored in a memory for providing a reference to the subsequent accessing.

  • Publication number: 20060156319
Abstract: A data storage apparatus and a processing method are provided, and more particularly to a data storage apparatus and a processing method thereof which ensure processing safety when changing data storage media. It mainly selectively set a locking mechanism on an up-down mechanism or disk loading/unloading mechanism, which locks after the up-down mechanism arrives at the position or before the disk loading/unloading mechanism loads a tray. After the disk loading/unloading mechanism unloads the tray or before the up-down mechanism moves to a next predefined position, a locking status is unlocked. Thereby, the processing safety will be ensured when changing multiple data storage media, and failures will be prevented occurring because of external force attacking or other vibrations.
