    Abstract: A display driving apparatus and a method thereof are provided. The apparatus includes a memory unit, a compression and decompression unit, a data selection unit, and a display accelerating unit. The memory unit is coupled to the compression and decompression unit and stores only a compressed frame to save memory space in the apparatus. The data selection unit determines whether an error is caused to a frame through data compression and decompression. When the error is greater than a predetermined value, the display accelerating unit turns off an overdriving process upon the pixels to avoid image distortion. The data selection unit also determines whether the frames are static or dynamic in order to determine whether to turn on the overdriving process.

The data driving circuit for a hold-type display includes a video data input terminal for receiving video data; a driving voltage output terminal for outputting a driving voltage to a display panel of the hold-type display; a sample and hold unit for sampling and holding voltages of the driving voltage output terminal to generate a sampled voltage according to a sampling signal; and a driving voltage generation unit for performing signal processing for the video data to output the driving voltage according to a plurality of reference voltages, a polarity selection signal and the sampled voltage.

    Abstract: A Block Truncation Coding (BTC) method and apparatus thereof are provided, which can avoid the flickers of pixels when applied to moving picture sequence, or increase the quantization levels with a simple and low-cost method. The BTC method includes: (a) receiving an image input of a block containing a plurality of pixels, and calculating the block mean in the pixels X; (b) classifying the pixels into a high intensity group and a low intensity group based on the mean value of the pixels, and assigning a corresponding bit based on which group each of the pixels belongs to, the corresponding bits of all the pixels constituting a bitmap, wherein the pixels or the corresponding bits are stabilized; and (c) calculating the mean value of the pixels of the high intensity group A and the mean value of the pixels of the low intensity group B.

    Abstract: An apparatus and the method which implement color dithering having an extended period for preventing perceivable dithering noise caused by the asymmetry and un-ideal characteristics existing in a display system are provided. The apparatus includes a separator, a carry generator, an adder and a limiter. The separator receives a color value and separates the color value into a high-bit color value and a low-bit color value. Then the carry generator provides a carry value to be either one or zero, according to a random number from a random number generator and the low-bit color value. The adder adds the high-bit color value and the carry value, and provides the result as a tentative output value. Finally, the limiter receives the tentative output value and outputs the smaller value of the tentative output value and a pre-set upper limit.

    Abstract: An image processing method and device thereof are provided. In the method, at least one input signal is received and a control signal is inputted. Then, at least one region of image signal is selected from the input signals to be processed according to the control signal. Thereafter, an output signal is generated by combining the processed region of the image signal and the other regions of image. Different setting of processing parameters can be applied to different regions of image according to the users' setting. The control signal may comprise a region selection signal and/or a parameter-setting signal. Therefore, at least one of the input signals may be selected according to the selection signal and be adjusted according to the parameter setting signal. Or, an image region of the input signal(s) may be selected according to the area selection signal and be adjusted according to the parameter setting signal.
