Patent number: 7932891Abstract: A multiple scan method for driving a display and a display therewith is provided. The multiple scan method is achieved by alternately driving the active pixels in the display twice or more times for expediting response time of these active pixels to reach the target luminance in the display. The pixels in the display are charged or discharged twice or more times within one frame period. By such design, the response time is shortened and quality for showing motion pictures is significantly improved.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2005Date of Patent: April 26, 2011Assignee: Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd.Inventors: Ming-Wei Huang, Wen-Tse Tseng, Mu-Shan Liao, Juin-Ying Huang

Patent number: 7800599Abstract: A display driving device is provided, which can solve the problem of stripes occurring on a display panel when accompanied with a system, such as a notebook computer system, upon booting. The display driving device includes a single-channel pulse width modulation circuit, a boost-lowering voltage circuit, a delay circuit, and a display driver. An operation voltage signal for enabling pixels is provided to the display panel with a delay by the delay circuit, so that it is later than the logic operation voltage signal for powering the display driving device, the voltage signal for enabling the pixels and that for disabling the pixels. Thus, the above “stripes” phenomenon can be eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2006Date of Patent: September 21, 2010Assignee: Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd.Inventors: Ming-Wei Huang, Juin-Ying Huang, Wen-Tse Tseng

Patent number: 7768490Abstract: A common voltage compensation device suitable for a display panel of a liquid crystal display is provided. The common voltage compensation device includes a timing controller and a compensation circuit. The timing controller receives an image signal and generates control signals to the compensation circuit according to a determination mechanism. The compensation circuit sends a common voltage compensation signal to the display panel according to the control signals outputted from the timing controller in order to compensate the common voltage on the display panel. The determination mechanism performs an analysis of a gray scale distribution of a horizontal line signal of the image signal, and determines whether to compensate the common voltage according to an analysis result, and determines a polarity required to be compensated to perform the compensation when the compensation is needed.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2006Date of Patent: August 3, 2010Assignee: Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd.Inventors: Hsin-Chung Huang, Yi-Nan Chu, Hung-Shiang Chen, Juin-Ying Huang

Patent number: 7724971Abstract: Image compression, decompression and motion detection methods are described. Two temporally adjacent frame images, a previous time frame and a current time frame, are compressed in round-off and averaging techniques. Next, according to the compressed data of two corresponding pixels of the two frame images, whether or not the pixel of the current time frame image is of a motion picture is detected. If the pixel is of a motion picture, the compressed pixel data of the previous time frame image is decompressed, and an overdrive process is performed on the decompressed pixel data and the original pixel data of the current time frame image to produce an overdrive output. If the pixel is not of a motion picture, an overdrive process is not performed.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2008Date of Patent: May 25, 2010Assignee: Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd.Inventors: Juin-Ying Huang, Wen-Tse Tseng, Chien-Hsun Cheng, Shih-Sung Wen

Patent number: 7336269Abstract: A control circuit and a method discharging capacitor/transistor, for a liquid crystal display (LCD), are provided. The control circuit includes a signal-off detector and an all-gate-on delay cell. When an LCD power-off signal is detected, a first control signal is transmitted to a power supply module for turning off power except the gate-on voltage, and turning off VGH after a specific delay time. A second control signal is also transmitted to the gate-on-delay cell, so that all gates of the pixel transistors are turned on after a second specific delay time. The charges on the pixel transistor are discharged via a source thereof before the gate-on voltage decreases below a threshold value, such that a residual image phenomenon caused by heterogeneous filming fabrication is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2004Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd.Inventors: Hsin-Chung Huang, Juin-Ying Huang, I-Cheng Chen

Publication number: 20070018938Abstract: A source driving device and a driving method for a display panel of a liquid crystal display are provided. The source driving device comprises a source driver and a current regulator. The source driver receives image data and then outputs image data via a plurality of source lines to drive the display panel. The current regulator is electrically connected to the source driver.
