  • Patent number: 8679019
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for measuring thicknesses of materials of multilayered structure. This method includes transmitting one or more ultrasound signals including different frequencies into a multilayered structure consisting of two or more materials with one or more ultrasound transducers, measuring materials, acoustic properties for which are different at the frequencies in use, measuring ultrasound signals reflected from the front surface and back surface of the multilayered structure with one or more ultrasound transducer and determining thicknesses of the materials within multilayered structure from the reflected ultrasound signals.

  • Publication number: 20050043623
Abstract: A measuring method and a measuring device for examining a compressible tissue, such as articular cartilage, said measuring device comprising an elongated rigid frame (1), a measuring arm (2) attached to the frame and preferably comprising a contact surface (3) to be placed against the tissue to be examined, and a measuring stud (4) and means (5) for processing signals obtained from the measuring stud. The measuring stud is an ultrasound probe for emitting ultrasound into the tissue to be examined and receiving ultrasound from the tissue to be examined.

  • Patent number: 5494045
Abstract: A device for measuring the stiffness of rigid tissue, such as cartilage. The device comprises an elongated, rigid body (1) and a first transducer (2) for measuring the force acting on the body. The body has an abutment face (6) for pressing against the tissue that is being measured, which face surrounds a measuring arm (3) having a protruding measuring pin (4). A second transducer (5) is provided for measuring the force acting from the tissue under measurement, through the measuring pin, and on the measuring arm. A signal processor (7) is included for processing the signals from the transducers.
