  • Patent number: 7698876
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and arrangement for packaging paper, pulp, or board reels (1). In the method the reel (1) is brought to a wrapping station, which comprises supporting elements (2, 2?) for supporting the reel (1) during wrapping end shields (7) are brought to the ends of the reel (1), wrapping material is wrapped around the reel (1), and the reel (1) is moved away from the wrapping station. According to the invention, the end shields (7) are brought to the ends of the reel (1) from the same side of the supporting elements (2, 2?) as the wrapping material.

  • Patent number: 6849290
Abstract: A method for controlling the deflection and/or position of a deflection-compensated doctor blade support beam relative to a web. The movement range of the doctor blade support beam is divided into radial control sectors so that the working directions of compensation elements in the support beam essentially form interface limits of the radial control sectors. When the support beam is to be moved, a set point is selected toward which a reference point of the support beam should move. The specific control sector is then determined within which the set point is located and this control sector becomes the active control sector. Deflection of the doctor blade support beam employs these two compensation elements so that one is used for controlling the deflection in the x-axis direction of the coordinate system, while the other is used for controlling the deflection in the y-axis direction of the coordinate system.

  • Publication number: 20030161956
Abstract: The present publication discloses a method for controlling the deflection and/or position of a deflection-compensated doctor blade support beam relative to web such as a paper or paperboard web. The invention is based on dividing the movement range of the doctor blade support beam, that is, the spatial range within which the reference point of the support beam can be moved with the help of the compensation elements, into radial control sectors so that the working directions of the compensation elements essentially form the interface limits of the radial control sectors. When it is desired to move the support beam, a set point is selected toward which the reference point of the support beam should move. After the position of the set point is established, the specific control sector is determined within which the set point is located and the thus identified control sector is selected as the active control sector.

  • Patent number: 5879508
Abstract: This patent publication discloses a method and assembly for placing an identification label to the end of a paper roll (1). Prior-art methods for placing the label have been hampered by the long duration of the work cycle caused by the picking movement of the label. According to the present invention the label is picked by means of a clamp element (7) from a slanted surface inclined at an angle of, e.g., 45.degree. from horizontal and transferred to the end of the roll (1) via an activation phase of the adhering surface by way of a continuous horizontal transfer movement, thus achieving a short work cycle. The assembly designed to implement the method performs the transfer movements by means of an arm (6) travelling along a guide rail (5) and a clamp element (7) connected by a joint (8) to the end of the arm (6).

  • Patent number: 5375751
Abstract: A method and an assembly for severing a perforated continuous form along two lines. The paper web is clamped by three clamping elements (6, 11, 15) extending essentially orthogonal over the entire width of the paper web (4) against an anvil plate (1) placed on the opposite side of the paper web so that the perforations (5) of the web remain aligned between the clamping elements (6, 11, 15) and the clamped paper web is tensioned by actuating severing elements (5, 16) placed between the clamping elements (6, 11, 15) to enter anvil grooves (12, 17) made in the anvil plate in order to sever the paper web at the perforation (5) by increased tensional stress. The apparatus provides a fast and reliable function.

  • Patent number: 5354976
Abstract: A method for identification of a roll and for determining its diameter, in which a device for reading the identifier and the sensor for measuring the diameter are mounted to a unit moving on a vertical lead, and its position is tracked by a position sensor. The diameter of the roll is detected by a mechanical detector that turns up when it contacts the surface of the roll enabling thus an uninterrupted movement of the unit past the measurement site. After the measurement of the diameter the identification unit moves to the center of the roll, inferred from the diameter, where the device for reading the identifier reads the identification code of the roll. During the return movement of the identification unit, markings can be made on the end of the roll by an ink-jet printer.
