Abstract: An apparatus and method for facilitating user selection of communication recipients via communication devices. Communication attributes of previous communication events involving the communication device are monitored. Selection criteria are established based on the monitored communication attributes. One or more adaptive recipient history lists are maintained, which correspond to contacts that are affiliated with the communication events satisfying the selection criteria. At least one of the adaptive recipient history lists are presented to the user via the communication device, thereby allowing the user to select the intended recipient via more relevant, focused short lists of likely recipients.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed to provide recommendations to a wireless device, based on stored bookmark/short-cut data. When a wireless device accesses services, data pertaining to the service access, along with any context related information is transmitted within the wireless device, or to a remote server. The data is processed in conjunction with bookmarks/short-cuts specified within the device, and are organized and presented to the wireless device in accordance with preference instructions specified within the wireless device.

Abstract: The invention is a system and method for computing a result for a location, wherein the result indicates how novel it is for a wireless device to occupy a specific location. After determining the location of a wireless device through various means, a Novelty Index Value (NIV) is calculated for the location, and the NIV is then stored into a database. The NIV may then be subsequently used by application programs to compute a desired result from the NIV. Multiple users may utilize and/or share the same NIV values. The NIV may also be used to alter the configuration of a wireless device as well. A recommendation system is also disclosed, wherein user context is utilized along with NIV values to compute particular results for a user.

The user's wireless device sends a current context-activity pair to a network server in response to either the user's selection of an activity or automatically, while protecting the user's privacy. The user's wireless device includes a service history log. The activities stored in the service history log include past recommendations made by the network server, past services used, prestored service preferences, and special requested service requirements. Context-activity pair information sent to the server protects user privacy and can include any combination of these activities. The server responds to an appropriate recommendation.
