Abstract: In a heterophasic polymer composition according to the invention the polymer is a biopolymer. Typically it is a composite of a polyester or copolyester consisting substantially of lactic acid, and an another phase that is a reinforcing agent or filler or another layered structure or surface. By using the composition according to the invention and preparation method of the invention especially good mechanical properties can be achieved for these biopolymer composites through producing very high interfacial adhesions between the phases.

Abstract: The invention refers to a method where lactic acid, its water solution, lactide, lactic acid oligomer, polylactic acid or mixture thereof is used for the degradation of cellulose based biomass, such as natural structure of wood, and transformation into plasticized or partly liquefied state so that the cellulose fibers and other components of the biomass can be separated, recovered, modified chemically or recycled by further treatments.
