Patent number: 5413564Abstract: A hypodermic syringe system for injecting a predetermined dosage of therapeutic fluid into body tissue of a living patient. A sealed capsule contains the fluid to be injected. A double ended hypodermic needle includes a first sharpened end for piercing engagement with the body tissue and a second sharpened end opposite therefrom for piercing engagement with the capsule. The capsule is disposed between the end of a plunger which is slidably engaged within a barrel member supporting the needle and the end wall of the barrel member. Advancement of the plunger moves the capsule into piercing engagement with the second sharpened end of the needle, collapsing the capsule and discharging the therapeutic fluid through the needle and into the body tissue. A safety syringe with a retractable needle is disclosed. The system is also provided with an aspirating capability to inform the user whether or not a blood vessel has been pierced by the needle.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1994Date of Patent: May 9, 1995Inventors: Jules Silver, Louis C. Patent number: 5336198Abstract: An improved hypodermic syringe includes a needle retraction feature permitting the needle to be fully retracted into the cylindrical cavity of the syringe barrel following the injection of medicine into a patient. The needle is held on the distal end of the barrel by means of an attachment hub, which includes an internal abutment surface to prevent outward movement of the needle. Inward movement of the needle is prevented by an expandable restriction of a distal barrel opening, extending between the cylindrical cavity and the distal end of the barrel. The needle is part of a subassembly including a flange held between this internal abutment surface and this expandable restriction. The distal end of the plunger is fitted with a needle extractor, which moves into the distal barrel opening as the plunger is pushed fully into the cylindrical cavity.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1993Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Assignee: Innova Development Corp.Inventors: Jules Silver, Louis C. Patent number: 5064660Abstract: A method for the preparation of ultra low-fat cheese products. The product is prepared by plasticizing a composition containing the desired low level of lipid, preferably butterfat; an amount of protein, preferably dairy protein, sufficient to emulsify the lipid; and from about 50% to about 70% moisture. The plasticization is achieved by subjecting the composition to the high speed cutting action of a razor sharp bladed food comminuter or to ultrasonic treatment to rupture the fat globules of the lipid and to reduce the particle size of the protein matrix, for a period of time sufficient to plasticize the composition. The physical changes which take place in the protein micelles and fat globules results in protein/fat interaction forming a stable self-emulsified product without the addition of chemical stabilizers or emulsifiers.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1990Date of Patent: November 12, 1991Inventor: Jules Silver

Patent number: 4978553Abstract: A method for the preparation of a low-fat butter or margarine product for use as a table spread. The product is prepared by plasticizing a composition containing from about 15% to about 50% lipid, preferably butter fat; an amount of protein, preferably dairy protein, sufficient to emulsify the lipid but insufficient to stabilize the lipid against plasticization; and from about 40% to about 60% moisture. Salt, butter coloring and butter flavoring are preferably also included. The plasticization is achieved by subjecting the composition to the high speed cutting action of a sharp bladed food comminuter for a period of time sufficient to plasticize the composition. The product is a smooth plastic spreadable butter substitute containing nutritious protein, which is low in fat and does not require the need for emulsifiers and stabilizers. The product is spreadable immediately after removal from refrigeration, as well as at normal room temperatures.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1987Date of Patent: December 18, 1990Inventor: Jules Silver

Patent number: 4315570Abstract: There is provided a two-compartment container. A lower mixing compartment has a closure which seals that compartment, and the upper end of an upper compartment is disposed in the closure and communicates through the closure to an aperture therein. A lower slideable seal in the lower end of the upper compartment effects a seal between the two compartments. That seal is exitable from the upper compartment by means of a digitally powered linking means projecting from the aperture, whereby the contents of the upper compartment are dispersed into the contents of the lower compartment. The lower seal quickly exits from the upper compartment and the contents impinge upon the lower seal and deflect therefrom to more uniformly disperse into the lower compartment.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1979Date of Patent: February 16, 1982Inventors: Jules Silver, Thomas J. Vaiciulis

Patent number: 4199564Abstract: There is provided an antimicrobial animal teat dip tincture composition and method of use thereof. The ingredients of the composition are: a microbicide, water-soluble, lower alkanol, water and lower-alkanol-soluble film-forming polymer, and a water soluble emollient. Mastitis is controlled by applying the composition to the teats of animals, and allowing the composition to dry on the teats to form a film of the polymer containing the emollient. The lower alkanol gives a very rapid and effective kill of microbes on the teats while the emollient will remain on the teats in the polymer film and prevent chapping and drying of the teats. Preferably, the composition also contains a further microbicide which remains in the polymer film and provides a residual long-term mastitis protection. Quaternary ammonia microbicide compounds provide superior results in this regard, as opposed to other conventional microbicides. The ingredients provide a freeze resistant solution.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1978Date of Patent: April 22, 1980Assignee: Masti-Kure Products Company, Inc.Inventors: Jules Silver, Thomas G. Patent number: 4171680Abstract: There is provided a packaged disposable animal waste container which has in packaged combination an open-top moisture resistance receptacle of such size that an animal may stand in the receptacle and with side walls sufficiently low that the animal may step into the receptacle, but sufficiently high that normal animal pawing will not displace animal waste and the like therefrom. Packaged within the receptacle are a plurality of nested trays each having dimensions so that the trays closely fit within the receptacle side walls. The trays also have side walls sufficiently high for containing an effective layer of animal waste absorbent. The package has a removal retainer means for retaining the nested trays in the receptacle during shipping and handling. The nested trays are removed from the receptacle and serially placed in the receptacle for use by the animal. A soiled tray is removed and replaced by a clean tray.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1977Date of Patent: October 23, 1979Inventors: Jules Silver, Russell E. Rhodes
