Patent number: 7455353Abstract: The infant product of the invention is of the type having an infant receptacle suspended from a frame. The infant product is foldable between a deployed position for use and a compact configuration for shipping and storage. In the assembled configuration, the infant receptacle is convertible between a bassinet configuration in which the infant receptacle has a substantially planar support surface and an infant seat configuration in which the support surface of the infant receptacle is partially titled or disposed at an angle such that the infant can be supported in an elevated or seated position. The infant product may include a fabric canopy incorporating floating webs and a quick connect system for securing the canopy in an open position. When the canopy is closed, it is folded so as to lie flat against the infant receptacle. Patent number: 6540292Abstract: An adjustable children's rocking chair is shown that can be readily converted without the use of tools between a configuration where it is used to support an infant in a more reclined position, and a configuration where it is suitable for use as a rocking chair by a toddler. The rocking chair includes a seat portion, a support portion connected to the seat portion, and the support portion being pivotably connected to a rocker base and being adjustable in length. The support portion includes a front frame assembly, such as a pair of front legs, and a rear frame assembly, such as a pair of rear legs, with each of the front legs being pivotably connected to a respective rear leg through a detachable joint. The seat portion includes a back support portion that is formed by a U-shaped seat back tube slipped inside a pocket in soft goods. Both ends of the U-shaped seat back tube are connected to the detachable joints pivotably connecting the rear legs to the front legs.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1999Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Assignee: Mattel, Inc.Inventors: Sandra Darling, Bryan M. Patent number: 6438772Abstract: A play yard has an oval-shaped upper frame. The upper frame is made of two u-shaped tubes and is supported by two vertical posts at either end of the play yard. The ends of each of the u-shaped tubes of the upper frame are connected to each post so as to be able to rotate about the posts. Located on each post is a slider which can slide up and down the post. Each slider is held in place by a button on each post. Diagonal support braces connect the sliders to each of the u-shaped tubes of the upper frame. When the play yard is in use, the upper frame is supported by the two vertical posts and the diagonal support braces located on either side of the play yard. The lower end of each post is connected to two opposing cantilevered legs at a hub. Each of the legs is substantially u-shaped and is pivotally connected at the hub in order to be able to rotate about the posts.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1999Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: Mattel, Inc.Inventors: Bryan M. Brown, John S. Canna, Julia Favorito, Eric T. Shuler

Patent number: 6027409Abstract: A seat recline mechanism for an infant swing is shown that provides adjustment of the inclination of the seat with respect to a single swing arm. The seat recline mechanism includes a pivot pin that is mounted in the lower end of the swing arm. The seat is pivotally mounted on the swing arm by the pivot pin. The seat can be secured in the reclined or upright position by spring-biased locking pins or protrusions extending out from sides of the swing arm, with the locking pins snapping into apertures located in one of two or more angular positions on a U-shaped sleeve protruding from the seat back. The seat can be converted between an upright position and an inclined position by depressing the spring-biased locking pins or buttons in order to disengage the swing arm from one angular position relative to the seat, thus allowing the seat to rotate about its pivot axis relative to the swing arm until the spring-biased buttons snap into apertures corresponding to a different angular position.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1999Date of Patent: February 22, 2000Assignee: Mattel, Inc.Inventors: Julia Favorito, Gerald P.
