A component, installation environment, installer's hand, and a mixed reality system worn by the installer may be calibrated. During an installation or removal attempt, the component, installer's hand, and mixed reality system are tracked. Collisions or near-collisions between the component, installer's hand, tool, and the real and virtual elements, as well as among components, are detected. Obstructions are identified. The installation or removal attempt is visualized via the mixed reality system. Additionally, the installation or removal path and information on collisions or near-collisions are displayed.
