Abstract: An account holder is authenticated using payment account transaction data. In one example, an authenticator receives an authentication request to authenticate the account holder from an organization. The request includes details of a past transaction provided to the organization by the account holder. In response to the authentication request, a response is communicated to the organization, indicating approval or denial of the authentication request based on whether the details of the past transaction match information stored in a transaction database managed by the payment network.

Abstract: A system and method of authenticating a user during an enrollment event wherein the system is configure to receive an authentication request comprising a user's bank account data, using the user's bank account data, retrieve from a data warehouse, transaction history associated with said bank account data, execute one or more checks and clears on the user's transaction data and eliminating ineligible transactions, display multiple eligible transactions to a user on a user interface of a computing device, receive authenticating input, wherein the authenticating input comprises transaction identifying data, and generate a response to the request for authentication.
