    Abstract: A device for separating the molars and fixing the two jaw joints of a patient in centric relation the device being in the form of a curved shaped article having a front member which is to be introduced between the incisors via a front end of the member for eliminating contact between the molars and for support purposes, with the thickness of the front member decreasing toward the front end. Depending on the extent of penetration of the shaped article into the mouth of the patient between the upper and lower incisors, the thickness of the shaped article and hence the separation of the incisors can be read off from markings on the top of the shaped article.

    Abstract: A dental apparatus for use in efficiently obtaining an accurate relationship of upper and lower jaws of a dental patient which includes a wafer and a leaf gage. The wafer is made of a substantially stable but vertically deformable material and has a generally dental arcuate shape. A slot extends through the wafer for receiving the leaf gage. The leaf gage is positionable within the slot of the wafer and thereafter placed within a patient's mouth in order to obtain an accurate centric relation record.
