  • Patent number: 11964067
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a sterilization apparatus which uses thermal or non-thermal plasma to disinfect surgical scoping devices such as endoscopes, gastroscopes, laparoscopes and the like. Aspect of the disclosure provide: (i) an apparatus for sterilizing inside an instrument channel formed with an insertion tube of a surgical scoping device, (ii) a whole-device sterilization apparatus for treating the entire exterior surface of a surgical scoping device, and (iii) an apparatus for cleaning and sterilizing a distal end face of an insertion tube of a surgical scoping device.

  • Patent number: 11950825
Abstract: A treatment apparatus which uses thermal or non-thermal plasma to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs) by destroying bacteria. The apparatus comprises an elongate probe that includes a coaxial cable for conveying radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic (EM) energy and/or microwave EM energy, a probe tip connected at the distal end of the coaxial cable for receiving the RF and/or microwave EM energy, and a gas conduit for conveying gas to the probe tip. The probe tip comprises a first electrode connected to the inner conductor of the coaxial cable, and a second electrode connected to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable, and wherein the first electrode and second electrode are arranged to produce an electric field from the received RF and/or microwave EM energy across a flow path of gas received from the gas conduit to produce a thermal or a non-thermal plasma.

  • Publication number: 20070149980
Abstract: A set of surgical instruments for use in the implantation of a tissue repair kit after preparation of a bone site having damaged tissue, in which damaged tissue is first removed and an annular groove is formed around the defect site prior to application of the repair kit comprising a bio-compatible pad to fit on the prepared bone site, and an overlying cover sheet to fit in the groove. The set of surgical instruments includes: an introducer cylinder having a hollow driving head at one end for introducing an outer portion of the cover sheet into the groove; a plunger relatively slidable within the cylinder and having a delivery end engageable with the cover sheet so as to move a main portion of the cover sheet towards the bone site with the outer portion of the cover sheet trailing behind the main portion, and a pad-receiving recess defined between the delivery end of the plunger and the inner wall of the cylinder so that a pad can be introduced into the recess to overlie the main portion of the cover sheet.

  • Patent number: 6352603
Abstract: A winding device (10) for use in the simultaneous formation and attachment of a loop (11) to an apertured implantable device (12), in which the loop is formed from a loosely structured fiber bundle of twisted yarn, and the device (12) has first and second apertures (13, 14) through which the loop can be taken, and comprising: withdrawing a leading end of yarn from a yarn supply (15, 18, 21) and feeding the leading end through the first aperture (13) in one direction, and through the second aperture (14) in an opposite direction; taking the leading end of yarn away from the device (12) and along a guide path formed by rotatable capstans (16) so as to form a basic loop; withdrawing further yarn from the supply simultaneously with applying movement of the basic loop along the guide path so as to apply successive loop turns to the basic loop and therefore from a progressively increasing loop core; and applying relative twists between the loop core and each successive loop turn so as to form a cohesive looped fibe
