  • Publication number: 20110144765
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a porous glass construct with interconnected porosity, the resulting porous construct and its use as a macroporous scaffold in bone repair and regeneration.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 27, 2009
    Publication date: June 16, 2011
    Applicant: IMPERIAL INNOVATIONS LIMITED
Inventors: Julian Jones, Robert Graham Hill, Zoe Yunxie Wu
  • Publication number: 20050037231
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a coating material comprising: a functional coating component; and a fluorescent additive component whose fluorescence is substantially unquenched by the coating component, the fluorescent additive component having a peak fluorescence emission under excitation by visible or infrared light, the wavelength of that peak fluorescence emission being greater than 500 nm and lying outside the principal fluorescence absorption and emission wavelengths of the coating component.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 8, 2003
    Publication date: February 17, 2005
Inventors: Anita Jones, James Barton, Jolyon De Freitas, Julian Jones, Philip Spencer, Guy Gregory
  • Patent number: 6832025
Abstract: In an optical waveguide fabricated to provide spectral filtering by a periodic mode coupling between the core and cladding the spectral profile may be shifted in wavelength if the core or cladding is photosensitive. This is especially useful in the case of long period gratings used as gain flattening filters, as a relatively low dose of radiation, compared with that typically required to fabricate a Reflection Bragg Grating in the same fiber, provides a sufficient shift for filter tuning purposes. Subsequent thermal exposure can stabilize the filter performance over the expected temperature range, while exposure to higher temperature reverses the radiation induced shift.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 2002
Date of Patent: December 14, 2004
    Assignee: JDS Uniphase Corporation
    Inventors: Norman Fisher, Julian Jones

  • Patent number: 5689668
Abstract: A control window for navigating and implementing menu selections in a multiple level hierarchical menu is provided having a first zone displaying a list of the selection levels and a second zone displaying a list of the selection options within a selection level. The second zone is refreshed with selections for another selection level in the menu hierarchy in response to a user implementation or registration of a selection option at the originally displayed selection level. Preset default settings in all selection levels permit the user to implement a "fast path" hierarchical menu selection.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 23, 1996
Date of Patent: November 18, 1997
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation
Inventors: Phillip Beaudet, Matthew Black, Jonathan Edwards, Julian Jones, Eduardus Antonius Theodorus Merks, Roger Spall
