  • Publication number: 20150248589
Abstract: A method and associated systems for object identification and subsequent processing based on digital imaging and physical attributes. An object-identification system receives, in a materials-handling environment, a digital image and physical attributes that characterize an unidentified object. An attempt is made to identify the object by matching the image and attributes to those of known objects stored in an image database, an attribute database, or another external source. The object is associated with a label that identifies the actual object, associates the object with a similar object that may be substituted for the actual object in a desired application, or designates the object as unidentifiable. The digital image, label, and external sources used to identify the object may be updated by associating them with metadata gathered during the identification process. Subsequent processing is governed by business rules that operate as functions of the label data.

  • Publication number: 20150186622
Abstract: A method and computer system for providing digital content of a print work. A request is received from a sending computer by a recording entity for the recording entity to generate a digital copy of the print work, wherein the digital copy is substantially similar to the print work. The request includes a unique identification of the print work and verification that both ownership of the print work by the print work's owner and disablement of the print work have been recorded. In response to having received the request, the recording entity generates the digital copy and a unique identifier of the digital copy which associates the digital copy with the unique identification of the print work. The digital copy and the unique identifier of the digital copy is transmitted to the sending computer.

  • Patent number: 9005101
Abstract: A method and system enabling delivery of a therapy type is provided. The method includes receiving a value of a parameter measured by physical sensors while a mammal is in contact with a first subset of the physical sensors. A second subset of the physical sensors, whose received value differs from a predetermined reference value of an environmental parameter, is determined. A physical part subset of the second subset, corresponding to a specified body part, is determined by utilizing the second subset and virtual data for identifying virtual sensors spatially distributed to map a space occupied by the mammal's body parts. In response, a therapy device positioned in sufficiently close proximity to the specified body part to effectively deliver the specified therapy type to the specified body part, is determined and a control signal is generated and transmitted to the associated therapy device.

  • Patent number: 8971925
Abstract: A method for processing a product identifying code. The product identifying code that identifies a product is received from a wireless device. A location of the wireless device is received. An item that comprises information pertaining to the product is obtained. The obtained item is transmitted to the wireless device. The information pertaining to the product includes a name of each establishment of a plurality of establishments from which the product is available and informational selected from the group consisting of a contact address for each establishment, driving instructions to each establishment, a price of the product at each establishment, a geocoded location of one establishment of the plurality of establishments relative to the location of the wireless device, descriptive information specific to the product, and combinations thereof.

  • Patent number: 8965808
Abstract: A method for processing a print work. A first entity's ownership of a print work that is lawfully owned by the first entity is recorded. The print work is a physical copy of an original copyrighted work. A disablement of the print work is recorded. While the disablement exists, a digital copy of the original work is generated or received. After initiation of generating or receiving the digital copy: (i) a digital association linking the digital copy with both the recorded ownership and the recorded disablement is generated; and (ii) the digital association is recorded in the digital copy and/or in hardware storage units. Another entity may generate the digital copy and a unique identifier of the digital copy which associates the digital copy with a unique identification of the print work.

  • Patent number: 8095444
Abstract: A method, computer system, and computer program product for performing an asset analysis for at least one asset, using the Required Yield Method (RYM). The method provides first economic data relating to a first economy. The economic data includes a gross domestic product (GDP) per capita growth rate for the first economy. The economic data may further include an expected inflation rate for the first economy over a time interval. At least one asset characteristic (e.g, asset valuation) of each asset of the least one asset is computed. The at least one asset characteristic is a function of a portion of the economic data. The computing is in accordance with the RYM. The computed at least one asset characteristic is transferred to a tangible medium. The at least one asset may include an equity index, a bond, gold, a currency, a derivative, etc.
