  • Patent number: 11529890
Abstract: A vehicle sensor assembly includes a panel having a first side and a second side. The vehicle sensor assembly also includes a beam spaced from the panel relative to the second side. The vehicle sensor assembly further includes a mount including a first portion fixed to the beam. In addition, the vehicle sensor assembly includes a sensor coupled to the mount. The mount includes a second portion coupled to the first portion and the sensor is fixed to the second portion to define a subassembly unit. The subassembly unit is movable relative to the first portion in response to a force applied to the first side of the panel which causes the second side of the panel to engage part of the mount to move the subassembly unit. A sensor-mount assembly includes the beam, the mount, and the sensor coupled to the mount.

  • Patent number: 11052847
Abstract: An exemplary impact beam for a vehicle includes a body defining a longitudinal axis of the impact beam. The body has a first longitudinal surface laterally separated from a second longitudinal surface, a first end including a first extension and a second extension such that the first and second extensions form a “T”-shape with the first and second longitudinal surfaces of the body, and a second end opposite the first end, the second end including a first extended portion and a second extended portion connected to the first extended portion by a connecting surface. The first extended portion is configured to extend into a first crush space defined by a fascia of the vehicle and the second extended portion is configured to extend into a second crush space defined by the fascia of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20200324720
Abstract: An automotive vehicle includes a vehicle body, a bumper beam coupled to the vehicle body, and a fascia coupled to the vehicle body and extending about the bumper beam. The vehicle further includes an expansion member coupled to the bumper beam and disposed between the bumper beam and the fascia. The expansion member has an initial position with respect to the bumper beam and a deployed position with respect to the bumper beam. In the initial position the expansion member presents a first frontal height and in the deployed position the expansion member presents a second frontal height. The second frontal height exceeds the first frontal height and a bumper beam height. The expansion member is configured to deploy from the initial position to the deployed position in response to contact by the fascia.

  • Patent number: 8302714
Abstract: An airflow control device for controlling a flow of air through a grille of a vehicle includes a sheet of flexible material. The sheet is moveable between an open position allowing airflow through the grille and a closed position blocking airflow through the grille. The sheet moves in a generally vertical path between the open position and the closed position.
