  • Patent number: 8897739
Abstract: A distributed antenna system wirelessly receives an overhead signal having a network identifier. The antenna system replaces the network identifier with a first pseudo-network identifier and with a second pseudo-network identifier. The antenna system wirelessly transmits the network overhead signal having the first pseudo-network identifier from a first coverage antenna at a first location. The first pseudo-network identifier is associated with first information associated with the first location. The antenna system wirelessly transmits the network overhead signal having the second pseudo-network identifier from a second coverage antenna at a second location. The second pseudo-network identifier is associated with second information associated with the second location. User communication devices may receive and translate the pseudo-network identifiers into the information for their respective location.

  • Patent number: 8849306
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems to help provide a location of a mobile station in cases in which the location of the serving base station may not be known or may not be available from a base station almanac. According to the disclosed methods and systems, if the serving base station is not listed in the almanac, a positioning system will direct the mobile station to obtain identification information from a second base station (e.g., the “second best” available base station) by acquiring or partially acquiring a connection to the second base station. The positioning system may then query the almanac for location information of the second base station, based on the identification information obtained from that base station.

  • Patent number: 8787401
Abstract: A distributed antenna system comprises a base antenna system and coverage antenna systems. The base antenna system wirelessly receives a network pilot signal and transfers the network pilot signal to a first coverage antenna system and to a second coverage antenna system. The first coverage antenna system wirelessly transfers the network pilot signal and a first pseudo-pilot signal that is correlated to a first location. The second coverage antenna system wirelessly transfers the network pilot signal and a second pseudo-pilot signal that is correlated to a second location. In some examples, user devices translate the pseudo-pilot signals into their correlated locations.

  • Patent number: 8195191
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communicating the location of a split sector in a cellular wireless communication system. A processor receives a definition of the separate coverage areas defining the split sector and programmatically determines whether a minimum composite angle spanning the coverage areas exceeds a threshold such as 180°. If so, the processor establishes an data-representation of the split sector as an omnidirectional sector. Otherwise, the processor establishes a data-representation of the split sector as a non-omnidirectional sector. The processor may then communicate the established data-representation for use as a basis to facilitate a location-based service keyed to the location of the split sector, such as response to an emergency service call for instance.

  • Publication number: 20100316734
Abstract: Methods and systems for treatment based on thermographic images of a patient to detect temperature patterns indicative of an evolving disease process. Guided by the thermographic image obtained, a treatment means can be positioned on the skin of the imaged body part. The treatment means comprises a medicament that reduces risk factor(s) associated with the progression of the evolving disease process.
