Abstract: A system and method is provided for handling the collation of linguistic symbols of different languages that may have various types of compressions (e.g., from 2-to-1 to 8-to-1). A symbol table of the symbols identified as Unicode code points is generated, with each symbol tagged with a highest compression type of that symbol by sorting the compression tables of the various languages. During a sorting operation with respect to a given string, the tag of a symbol in the string is checked to identify the highest compression type of compressions beginning with that symbol, and the compression tables for the language with compression types equal or lower than the highest compression type of the symbol are searched using a binary search method to find a matching compression for the symbols in the string. A common search module is used to perform binary searches through compression tables of different compression types.

Abstract: A method and system for mapping a number of characters in a string, wherein the string comprises a combination of characters representing indexed expressions and a combination of characters representing non-indexed expressions. One embodiment produces a weight array that can be utilized to compare a first and second string having indexed and non-indexed expressions. In one embodiment, a method generates a set of special weights for characters that represent indexed and non-indexed expressions. The method then associates a weight value of an indexed expression with the specific group of characters representing a specific non-indexed expression, and generates a weight array by retrieving a plurality of special weights associated with the specific group of characters representing the specific non-indexed expression and the associated weight value of the indexed expression.

Abstract: A bib for preventing soil-causing fragments from soiling a garment worn upon a wearer's body. The bib comprises a body-engaging member configured to engage the wearer's body for preventing the soil-causing fragments from soiling the garment worn thereupon. This body-engaging member has upper and lower body regions. A first pouch is formed about the lower body region and is openable towards the upper body region for capturing the soil-causing fragments. Furthermore, a second pouch is formed about the lower body region over the first pouch and is openable away from the upper body region. The second pouch is receivable of the upper body region when folded and deposited thereinto so as to contain the soil-causing fragments and the soiling caused thereby within the bib.
