  • Patent number: 10035968
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lubricating composition containing an oil of lubricating viscosity and a dimercaptothiadiazole salt of a copolymer comprising units derived from monomers (i) an ?-olefin and (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivatives thereof (typically carboxylic acid groups or an anhydride), are partially esterified with an alcohol, or mixtures thereof, and wherein at least a portion of carboxylic acid groups not esterified are reacted with an amine. The invention further provides for a lubricating composition containing said copolymer. The invention further provides a method and use of lubricating composition in a mechanical device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 16, 2011
Date of Patent: July 31, 2018
    Assignee: THE LUBRIZOL CORPORATION
Inventors: Mary F. Salomon, Julie A. Edgar, William R. S. Barton, Mark R. Baker, Michael E. Huston
  • Publication number: 20170137740
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a (thio)phosphate salt of an amine-functionalized esterified copolymer, wherein the esterified copolymer comprises units derived from monomers: (i) an ?-olefin and (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivatives thereof, that are esterified with an alcohol, or mixtures thereof, and wherein at least a portion of carboxylic acid groups not esterified react with an amine. The invention further provides for a lubricating composition containing said copolymer. The invention further provides a method and use of lubricating composition in a mechanical device.
