  • Patent number: 9603085
Abstract: Methods and apparatus providing intelligent interface selection for legacy and non-legacy applications. The method includes intercepting a networking function call from an application desiring radio access, selecting a radio from a plurality of candidate radios based on selection criteria, and binding the radio to the application. To facilitate flow mobility, the method includes allocating an ephemeral port to the radio, generating a flow binding rule based only on the ephemeral port, and signaling the flow binding rule to a home agent.

  • Patent number: 9491036
Abstract: An apparatus and method for facilitating prefix allocation and advertisement or delegation in a wireless communication system, including receiving a signal from a client to indicate that the client will function as a router; and prompting a server to not allocate a prefix to a link between the server and the client and to not advertise said prefix to the client. In one aspect, the apparatus and method further includes allocating a first prefix to a user equipment (UE), receiving an indication that the UE is a router; and either a) reserving a second prefix for the UE wherein the second prefix is shorter than the first prefix; or b) calculating the second prefix for the UE wherein the second prefix includes a portion of the first prefix.

  • Patent number: 9351143
Abstract: Techniques are provided for efficient peer-to-peer (P2P) service discovery and group formation, as well as maintenance of P2P session continuity. In one example, there is provided a method, operable by an originating user equipment (UE), that may involve transmitting a request for P2P service discovery and group formation assistance to a discovery server via a serving node over an air-interface channel. The method may involve receiving scoped information from the discovery server for participating in a P2P communication session, and establishing the P2P communication session with at least one terminating UE based at least in part on the received scoped information. The method may involve maintaining P2P communication session continuity by reverting to bearer signaling via a packet core.

  • Patent number: 9094326
Abstract: Systems and methods for prioritizing transmission control protocol (TCP) flows for communication devices in a network are described herein. The systems and methods herein may further allocate bandwidth to the flows based on the priority of the flows. Further, the systems and methods herein allow devices to determine whether particular flows share a traffic flow constraint or bottleneck that limits the overall available bandwidth to the flows. Therefore, allocation of bandwidth for one flow may be adjusted based on allocation of bandwidth to another flow if the flows share a traffic flow constraint. Further, the systems and methods herein allow for target data rates to be determined for the flows based on shared traffic flow constraints.

  • Patent number: 8885471
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for providing uplink traffic differentiation support in hybrid networks including 3GPP and non-3GPP are described herein. In some aspects, a method that facilitates wireless communications is provided. The method includes receiving, using signaling involved in establishing a cipher tunnel, traffic classification information and associated quality of service (QoS) marker information. The method further includes determining, based upon the traffic classification information, that a data packet is associated with a traffic classification. A QoS marker is included within the data packet. The QoS marker is associated with the traffic classification.

  • Patent number: 8737409
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided that facilitate establishing multiple sub-connections between a correspondent node (CN) and a mobile node (MN), through a home agent (HA) to provide multipath functionality over multiple MN interfaces. The MN can connect to multiple networks using multiple MN interfaces, receiving care-of addresses (CoA) at each network. The MN can establish multiple connections to the CN specifying, to the HA, a different 5-tuple (or n-tuple) for each connection. The different 5-tuple can include a different port number related to a home address assigned by the HA. Also, bindings at the HA can be updated to associate the different 5-tuple with a CoA of one of the multiple MN interfaces. In this regard, the HA can route packets to the MN from the CN based at least in part on determining the HoA port number in the packet associated with the CoA of an MN interface.

  • Publication number: 20120269059
Abstract: A splitter component may be used by itself or with one or more ancillary devices to provide client devices local IP access (LIPA) using local area network (LAN) addresses, while contemporaneously providing quality of service (QoS) functionality to the access terminal for data communicated via a modem, contemporaneously with providing the LIPA. The splitter device may assign a higher priority to traffic of a type having QoS functionality. The QoS functionality may include any combination of a latency requirement, a signal quality requirement, or a signal strength requirement. Providing the one or more devices LIPA using one or more LAN addresses may include assigning each of the client devices an IP address and implementing a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) relay on an associated router, or other LIPA functions.

  • Patent number: 7401215
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that communicates cryptographic data through multiple network layers. During operation, the system receives the cryptographic data and divides the cryptographic data into multiple pieces. The system then encapsulates different pieces of the cryptographic data into fields associated with different network layers in a data packet, whereby an item of cryptographic data that is too large to be communicated in a single field can be communicated through multiple fields associated with different network layers.
