Patent number: 5732745Abstract: A thermoplastic tube for in-field storage or packaging of bales of agricultural products is disclosed. The tube combines high puncture resistance with an exceptional stretchability, elasticity and good slip properties. The circumference of the tube can be expanded by at least 15% without tearing when stretched in the transverse direction. The tube also shows no substantial permanent deformation 2 hours after being so stretched for a period of time not exceeding 30 minutes and released. Before feeding a bale, the tube is stretched radially to facilitate the insertion and accommodate bales larger than original diameter of the tube. When regaining the original size, the tube wraps up tightly the bales reducing the amount of air trapped in the tube.
