  • Patent number: 9892519
Abstract: A method for detecting an object captured by a camera in an environmental region of a vehicle based on a temporal sequence of images of the environmental region is disclosed. An electronic evaluation device is used to determine at least one characteristic pixel of the object in a first image of the sequence of images, and the determined characteristic pixel is tracked in at least a second image and a flow vector each having a vertical component and a horizontal component is provided by the tracking. A first depth component, which is perpendicular to the vertical component and the horizontal component, is determined based on the vertical component, and a second depth component, perpendicular to the vertical component and the horizontal component, is determined based on the horizontal component. Abstract: A system and process of gauging a camera suitable for equipping a vehicle. The system and process determines at least one value of at least one geometrical parameter of the camera, at least in accordance with an item of information that represents a parameter associated with an object detected by the camera, compares the determined value to a value of reference (?pitching_ref, ?rolling_ref, ?twisting_ref) of the geometrical parameter of the camera, and controls the geometrical parameter of the camera in accordance with the comparison, particularly by modifying the value of reference in such a way as to gauge the camera.

  • Patent number: 8063935
Abstract: The present invention relates in particular to a method for the early detection of the arrival of a motor vehicle in a dark sector. In general terms, the invention proposes to use a camera for early detection of the arrival of the vehicle in a dark area, for example a tunnel. For this purpose, in the invention, provision is made in particular for using an image processing application for determining on a set of images supplied by the camera, whether the vehicle is ready to enter a dark area and, if it turns out that the vehicle will enter a dark area, to cause a switching on of the lights. Particular embodiments of the method according to the invention also make it possible to dispense with storing a plurality of templates corresponding to the various shapes of tunnel entrances, by providing judicious and reliable recognition criteria.
