  • Patent number: 11084444
Abstract: A method for operating an airbag of an occupant protection device of a vehicle moveable in autonomous driving mode involves positioning the airbag in an active position depending on at least one trigger condition. The airbag is automatically positioned and/or aligned within a vehicle interior depending on a positioning of a vehicle seat assigned to the airbag.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 18, 2018
Date of Patent: August 10, 2021
    Assignee: DAIMLER AG

  • Patent number: 9884644
Abstract: When a vehicle passenger sitting on a vehicle seat or a body part of the vehicle passenger is moved away from a collision side of the vehicle by a passenger protection mechanism a reaction of a driver of the vehicle following the triggering of the passenger protection mechanism is monitored. If a steering movement implemented in an uncontrolled manner by the driver, resulting from an incorrect triggering of the passenger protection mechanism, is detected at least one intervention correcting the lane is implemented in such a way that the vehicle is guided back into its original lane.

  • Publication number: 20160264088
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling at least one protective element arranged in a vehicle seat for positioning a passenger sitting on the vehicle seat, wherein the at least one protective element is triggered by control of an actuator in the case of a detected imminent collision of the vehicle. After non-detection of an imminent collision of the vehicle and of a subsequently detected occurred collision of the vehicle, the at least one protective element is triggered by control of the irreversibly executed actuator at or after a collision time.

  • Publication number: 20080290633
Abstract: A passenger vehicle restraint system that is capable of being placed in different positions, consisting of an interior defined by a housing and at least one airbag, at least one gas generator for delivering gas to the interior in order to inflate the airbag, at least one controllable outlet provided on the housing which may be closed by a closing element, such that an internal pressure in the interior may be adjusted according to parameters relevant to passenger load during an accident. A restraint system, which is easy to construct and can be manufactured cost-effectively, is provided by an adjustable stop element limiting the opening movement of the closing element, which is coupled to the vehicle seat such that the stop element is displaced according to parameters relevant to passenger load, in order to adjust the outlet cross section defined by the closing element located in its closed position.
