  • Publication number: 20240376018
Abstract: A method for protecting a carbon-carbon composite material part from oxidation, the method including applying an impregnation composition comprising at least one metal phosphate to at least one portion of the outer surface of the part; depositing, by a dry deposition process, a solid composition of an oxidation-resistant glass on at least one portion of the outer surface of the part, once the impregnation composition has been applied; and conducting an impregnation heat treatment in order to soften or melt the solid composition deposited by a dry deposition process, to allow the internal porosity of the part to be impregnated with the thus-softened or thus-melted composition, and to form an oxidation-resistant glass in the internal porosity of the part.

  • Patent number: 10899673
Abstract: A method of protecting a carbon-containing composite material part against oxidation, includes applying a first coating composition in the form of an aqueous suspension on an outside surface of the part, the first coating composition including a metallic phosphate; a powder of an ingredient comprising titanium; and a powder of B4C; subjecting the applied first coating composition to heat treatment in order to obtain a first coating on the outside surface of the part; applying a second coating composition on the first coating composition, the second coating composition including an aqueous suspension of colloidal silica; a powder of borosilicate glass; and a powder of TiB2; and subjecting the applied second coating composition to second heat treatment in order to obtain a second coating on the first coating.

  • Publication number: 20170369714
Abstract: A method of protecting a part made of carbon-including composite material against oxidation, the method including a) applying a coating composition on at least a portion of the outside surface of the part, the coating composition being in the form of an aqueous suspension including: a metallic phosphate; a powder of a compound comprising titanium; and a B4C powder; and b) applying heat treatment to the coating composition applied during step a) with a treatment temperature lying in the range 330° C. to 730° being imposed during the heat treatment in order to obtain a coating on the outside surface of the part, the coating including a first phase in which the metallic phosphate is in crystalline form and a second phase in which the metallic phosphate is in amorphous form.
