In some instances, a patient simulator comprises: a simulated portion of a human body; and an insert configured to be selectively coupled to the simulated portion of the human body via an insert connection system, wherein one of the simulated portion of the human body or the insert includes a plurality of male connectors of the insert connection system and the other of the simulated portion of the human body or the insert includes a plurality of female connectors of the insertion connection system, wherein each male connector includes at least one pair of opposing arms and each female connector includes a projection and the at least one pair of opposing arms of the male connector is configured to releasably engage with the projection of the female connector.

In some instances, a patient simulator comprises a simulated torso having a recess and a chest wound assembly positioned within the recess of the simulated torso, the chest wound assembly comprising a cavitation fitting having a plurality of fingers defining a plurality of slits in communication with an opening of the chest wound assembly, the cavitation fitting in fluid communication with a reservoir of simulated blood and configured to produce bubbles and cavitation noises as the simulated blood is circulated to and from the chest wound assembly.
