  • Publication number: 20080038163
Abstract: A device for performing biological analysis may include at least one reaction chamber configured to receive at least one sample for biological analysis and a thermal system configured to modulate a temperature of the at least one reaction chamber to cycle a temperature of the at least one biological sample. The thermal system may include a cooling system configured to cool the at least one reaction chamber. The cooling system may include a cooling fluid source positioned distally from the at least one reaction chamber, the cooling fluid source being in flow communication with at least one conduit configured to flow cooling fluid from the cooling fluid source to at least one location in thermal communication with the at least one reaction chamber.

  • Publication number: 20070056898
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to processes and methods for producing a hydrophobic zone boundary that surrounds a hydrophilic porous material layer mounted on a substrate, the hydrophilic porous material layer containing tortuous channels and pores such that the fluid contained within one hydrophilic layer region does not cross the hydrophobic zone boundary and the articles formed thereby and, more particularly, to processes and methods for producing a hydrophobic zone boundary that separates adjacent regions of a hydrophilic porous material layer mounted on a substrate, the hydrophilic porous material layer containing tortuous channels and pores mounted on a substrate such that a uniform hydrophobic zone boundary layer in the z-direction is formed in the hydrophilic porous material or the removal of the hydrophilic porous material layer from the substrate to form a hydrophilic porous material zone on the substrate, the so formed hydrophilic porous material zone having a predetermined geometric shape such th

  • Publication number: 20050226771
Abstract: A fluid distribution system comprising a table, an alignment stage, and a plurality of processing stations. The table can be configured to engage at least one of a plurality of microplates and can be movable at least in an X-axis direction. The alignment stage can be configured to move the table at least in a Y-axis direction that differs from the X-axis direction. The plurality of processing stations comprises at least one or more dispensing stations and a plate-handling station. Each of the one or more dispensing stations comprises a dispensing device adapted to dispense fluid into or onto one or more of a plurality of microplates, and the plate-handling station comprises a plate-handling device adapted to selectively pick up and deposit on the table individual microplates from a plurality of microplates, at least one at a time.

  • Patent number: 4781311
Abstract: A cap and container especially suited for dispensing liquids has a cap which is accurately aligned upon closure. The container is closed by applying downward axial pressure to the cap, thereby forcing lugs in the cap to pass over threads located on the neck of the container so that the cap is snapped on. Stop walls prevent any undesired cap rotation. Stabilizing lugs are alternatively provided to add additional stability. Alternatively, the container is closed by twisting or rotating the cap with respect to the neck. The cap may also be twisted or snapped off. Modifications in the neck configuration make the cap irremovable.
