  • Patent number: 4334817
Abstract: Loading apparatus for use with a tractor having a three-point hitch including an upper stationary pivot point and a pair of opposed generally paralleled lifting arms below the pivot point, including a horizontal lifting bar supported by the outer end of the tractor lifting arms, a pair of wing members having the inner end pivotally secured to the tractor pivot point and the outer ends configured so that they are generally parallel and spaced apart sufficient to engage the ends of a cylindrical hay bale, and a hydraulic grasping cylinder piston between the wing members controllable so as to move the wing members together to grasp a hay bale after which the tractor lifting arms may be actuated to lift the lifting bar and thereby the wing members to lift the hay bale for transportation.

  • Patent number: 4194863
Abstract: Apparatus for use with a tractor for lifting and transporting large cylindrical hay bales including a pair of lifting arms having the inner ends secured to the tractor frame, the arms being parallel to each other, a lifting plate affixed to the outer ends of the lift arms extending transversely of the arms and the tractor, a hydraulic lifting cylinder between the tractor frame and each lifting arm for raising the arms and thereby the lifting plate, a pair of side arms, the inner end of each being pivoted to the lifting arm, each side arm slidably resting on the lift plate adjacent the outer end, the lifting arms being pivoted towards and away from each other, the outer ends of the lifting arms being spread apart sufficient to receive a large bale of hay therebetween, and a hydraulic grasping cylinder pivotally connected at opposite ends to the side arms whereby the side arms may be retracted towards each other to grasp a large bale of hay and the lifting cylinders hydraulically actuated to lift the bale of ha

  • Patent number: 4079996
Abstract: A trailer vehicle for hauling large cylindrical bales of hay comprises an elongated rectangular frame supported on an axle and wheels. The frame carries a plurality of rectangular frames in which the transverse members are curved in the form of an arc to match that of the bales of hay. The support frames are hinged about a longitudinal axis on sloping transverse support members which are a part of the vehicle frame. In the loaded and traveling position, the support frames are horizontal and are latched to the support members. When the bales are to be unloaded the latch is opening manually and the support frame can then tilt to the side permitting the bale to roll off of the support frame and onto the ground.
