  • Patent number: 4073304
Abstract: A system for calibrating the flow rate of a pump, and especially designed for a pump which is normally used in a system to blend highly vaporous and odorous fluids, in which the blending fluid discharged from the pump is diverted from its normal flow stream into a closed calibration system which has a sight glass for receiving the fluid discharged by the pump. After a predetermined number of cycles by the pump, the amount of fluid within the sight glass is determined and then the calibration system is purged by a displacement gas so that the offensive material is returned back to its original source to be reused in its normal fashion.

  • Patent number: 4007755
Abstract: A system for injecting a predetermined amount of additive fluid into a main stream of fluid which controls the amount of additive injected by a timing circuit. A pump continuously circulates the additive through a circuitous path having a valve which diverts the additive into the main stream. A control system receives signals from a turbine meter in the main stream and opens the valve a predetermined length of time at a frequency depending on the signals received from the turbine meter, thereby maintaining a constant concentration of the additive in the main stream.

  • Patent number: 3997886
Abstract: A system for detecting the presence of a contaminating fluid in other, normal fluids. In one embodiment the system detects the presence of hydrocarbons in a liquid which is normally water. A barrier which is soluble in hydrocarbons but insoluble in water has one side in contact with the liquid. A liquid sensitive switch is positioned on the other side of the barrier. If hydrocarbons are present, they will dissolve the barrier and close the switch which will set off an alarm. In a second embodiment wherein water is the possible contaminant in hydrocarbons, a barrier which is soluble in water but insoluble in hydrocarbons is utilized.

  • Patent number: 3974695
Abstract: In an environment having two or more immiscible liquids wherein a first liquid floats on top of the second liquid, a gauging system which senses the depth of the first liquid which is floating on top of the second liquid. A float holding a capacitance probe which passes through the entire depth of the first liquid maintains the probe at the free surface level at all times. A cable wrapped around a drum and connected to the float is used for determining the free surface liquid level.

  • Patent number: 3941148
Abstract: A system for controlling a pneumatic rising stem valve by a stepping motor is disclosed. A pressure regulator is connected to the stepping motor so that the air pressure applied to the valve can be varied according to the signals applied to the stepping motor.
