  • Publication number: 20110122632
Abstract: An LED unit includes an LED having an optical axis and a lens mounted on the LED. The lens includes an incidence surface, an emission surface, and a light-reflecting face between the incidence surface and the emission surface. The light-reflecting face has a diameter gradually increasing from a bottom towards a top of the lens. The incidence surface includes a first incidence surface and a second incidence surface extending downwardly from a circumference of the first incidence surface and protruding inwardly towards the LED. Light emitted from the LED with a large angle is refracted by the second incidence surface into substantially parallel beams in one side of a cross-section of the lens through the optical axis of the LED, and the parallel beams are sequentially reflected by the light-reflecting face and refracted by the emission surface out of the lens in substantially parallel beams.

  • Publication number: 20110110102
Abstract: An LED (light emitting diode) includes a light emitting chip and a lens above the chip. The lens includes a base and a convex curved circumferential surface extending upwardly from a periphery of the base toward a center of the lens. An acute angle formed between a light ray generated by the chip and projecting on a point of the convex curved circumferential surface and a main axis of the lens extending vertically from a center of the chip is smaller than that formed between the normal for the point of the convex curved circumferential surface and the main axis of the lens so that light generated by the chip is converged by the lens. A light-emission angle of the LED at 10% of a peak light intensity of the LED is ranged between 60-75 degrees from the main axis.

  • Publication number: 20110043099
Abstract: This invention is related to efficient anorganic phosphors, which are based on an oxysulfide host lattice of the general formula ABOS: M. Furthermore, this invention is related to the use of these phosphors in various technical applications such as fluorescent lamps, colored light or white light emitting LEDs, scanning beam displays working with UV or purple laser as exciting source and other devices in order to convert especially UV or NUV radiation or short-wave visible light into an useful longer-wave visible radiation. This invention is also related to light sources and/or display applications that contain the inventive phosphor.

  • Publication number: 20100288972
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a rare-earth doped alkaline-earth silicon nitride phosphor of a stoichiometric composition. Said method comprising the step of selecting one or more compounds each comprising at least one element of the group comprising the rare-earth elements (RE), the alkaline-earth elements (AE), silicon (Si) and nitrogen (N) and together comprising the necessary elements to form the rare-earth doped alkaline-earth silicon nitride phosphor (AE2Si5N8:RE). The method further comprises the step of bringing the compounds at an elevated temperature in reaction for forming the rare-earth doped alkaline-earth silicon nitride phosphor (AE2Si5N8:RE). In such a method normally a small amount of oxygen, whether intentionally or not-intentionally added, will be incorporated in the rare-earth doped alkaline-earth silicon nitride phosphor (AE2Si5N8:RE).

  • Publication number: 20050174813
Abstract: This invention provides an AC-to-DC power converter that improves the overall conversion efficiency especially that at the minimum input ac voltage for universal input operation design by adopting a new combination of control strategies and topologies for the PFC pre-regulator and DC-to-DC converter. The PFC pre-regulator was arranged to provide a regulated bus voltage of which the amplitude is varied in accordance with input ac voltage by a follower boost controller to achieve best efficiency in minimum input ac voltage operation. A synchronous rectifier dual boost PFC pre-regulator was present for further reduction of the power loss in the converter. Symmetrical half-bridge or symmetrical full bridge switch devices were arranged for the primary side of DC-to-DC converter and synchronous rectification circuit with two synchronous rectifier were arranged for the secondary side of the DC-to-DC converter as combination of the AC-to-DC converter.

  • Publication number: 20050018738
Abstract: There is disclosed a laser marking apparatus that is able to form dome-shaped marks on a finished glass disk that are visible to naked eyes. The laser marking apparatus comprises a CO2 laser beam generator, a pulse calibration, a beam modifying and energy stabilizing system, an attenuator, a galvanometer, and a material handling unit. There is also disclosed a laser marking method that comprises calibrating the laser beam generated by the laser beam generator by pulse calibration, passing the calibrated laser beam from the laser generator through the attenuator and the beam modifying and energy stabilizing system, wherein the laser power can be selected, the laser mode can be improved, and the fluctuation of laser power from laser generator and optic path can be minimized, and directing the modified laser beam into the galvanometer, wherein the modified laser beam is directed by an x-y scanner and focused by F-Theta lens to the surface of a workpiece held by the materials handling unit.

  • Patent number: 6405095
Abstract: A solid freeform fabrication process and apparatus for making a three-dimensional object. The process comprises the steps of (1) operating a material deposition sub-system for dispensing droplets of solidifiable liquid compositions on demand onto selected spots of an object work surface, for using a focused heat source to maintain a heat-affected zone on the work surface, and for creating a weld pool of molten materials on this work surface by injecting selected powder particles into this heat-affected zone and (2) during the material deposition process, moving the deposition sub-system and the work surface relative to each other in an X-Y plane defined by first and second directions and in a Z direction orthogonal to the X-Y plane so that the materials are deposited to form a first layer of the object. The material in the weld pool solidifies after the heat-affected zone moves away to build portions of a layer. These steps are repeated to deposit multiple layers for forming a three-dimensional shape.
