    Abstract: A pointing device includes an elastic plate is provided with a perforation or notch through which a pin can be inserted. Terminal electrodes are formed, and then strain resistant elements are formed in the state in which the pin is inserted through the perforation or notch. Thus, variations in the positional relationship between the terminal electrodes and the strain resistant elements are eliminated. A base plate may be provided with a perforation or notch which can receive the pin. The pin is inserted through the notch of the elastic plate. The elastic plate is mounted on the base plate using the pin as a guide. The elastic plate may be made of yttrium-stabilized zirconia.
