    Abstract: [PROBLEM] To provide a display device capable of improving the transmittance of light at an opening that passes light while maintaining high reflectivity in a reflective layer. [RESOLUTION MEANS] Use a metal film and an reflection increasing film to configure a reflective layer provided in an element substrate to effectively utilize light of a light source. Leave a silicon nitride film that is one portion of the reflection increasing film in the opening that passes the light of the light source while removing the metal film. At this time, the film thickness of the silicon nitride film in the reflection increasing film is ¼ the wavelength of incident light and, on the other hand, the film thickness of the silicon nitride film in the opening is ½ the wavelength of the incident light. The silicon nitride film that is one portion of the reflection increasing film and a passivation film provided in a top layer of an interlayer dielectric film are laminated in the opening to achieve this structure.

A film is formed such that the film covers the whole resin layer except for a bottom surface of the resin layer inside the cut and at least a portion of the resin layer is exposed outside the cut. The resin layer which is wholly covered with the film is left inside the cut, and the whole resin layer continuously formed with a surface exposed from the film is removed outside the cut. A bump is formed by the resin layer and the film inside the cut, and a shutter and at least a portion of a drive part are formed by the film outside the cut in a state where these parts are floated from a first substrate.

A plurality of supporting columns is formed on a surface of the transparent substrate of the MEMS substrate. A plurality of cylindrical contact holes having the same inner diameter as an outer diameter of each supporting column are formed at a position corresponding to one part of the supporting columns. Both substrates are arranged with a certain interval so that each shutter and an aperture oppose each other, thereby a tip end of corresponding supporting columns is inserted into each contact hole and in this way, both substrate are mutually positioned.
