    Abstract: A continuous decontamination-and-sterilization device possessing high efficiency, reliability, and safety of operation to treat external surfaces of a package that is conveyed to a sterile working chamber. A decontamination chamber decontaminates (with a decontamination agent) bottom and lateral external surfaces of the package conveyed by a first conveyance, with an upper surface seal portion of the package being sealed. An aeration chamber removes residue of decontamination agent from an external surface of the package while the package is conveyed by a second conveyance means. A sterilization chamber sterilizes the upper surface seal portion of the package by irradiating electron beams as the package is conveyed by a third conveyance means, with the bottom or lateral external surface of the package being supported.

    Abstract: An automobile insurance premium setting system is provided in which a premium amount may be appropriately set according to driving states of an insurant's automobile. A basic premium calculated based upon coverage and indemnity specified by the insurant, and an additional premium estimated based upon driving behavior submitted by the insurant are added and collected as a provisional premium. Driving behavior points are counted each time when actual driving behavior of the insurant deviates from criteria determined based upon the driving behavior. Safe driving points are counted each time when the actual driving behavior deviates from safe driving criteria submitted to the insurant in advance. The driving behavior points and the safe driving points are combined into demerit points, to calculate an actual additional premium corresponding to the demerit points, and a difference between the estimated additional premium and the actual additional premium is balanced upon expiration of the automobile insurance.

    Abstract: A magnetic current meter adapted to sense the flow of liquid through an open channel to produce a mean flow velocity signal that is independent of fluctuations in the level of liquid in the channel. The meter includes a tube of insulation material so positioned in the channel that its longitudinal axis is normal to the direction of flow. Disposed in the tube is a rod having a coil wound thereon, the coil being excited by a low-frequency alternating current to produce an external magnetic field. A pair of electrodes are mounted on opposite sides of the tube on the outer surface thereof whereby the flow of liquid which intercepts the external field induces a voltage signal in the electrodes proportional to the mean flow velocity. The height of the meter exceeds the depth of the channel and is higher, therefore, than the liquid level regardless of fluctuations therein.
