  • Patent number: 7681560
Abstract: The present invention prevents an EGR sensor installed in an engine's EGR path from being soiled by soiling substances in exhaust. A catalyst is positioned upstream of the EGR sensor to purify the soiling substances in EGR gas. The status of the EGR sensor is properly controlled in accordance with the conditions of the catalyst. This ensures the EGR sensor is less likely to be affected by the soiling substances in the exhaust under any circumstances of the EGR path and allows the EGR sensor to avoid a decrease in the accuracy of EGR gas detection. An alternative configuration may be employed such that the EGR gas recirculates from the downstream side of a catalyst installed in a main exhaust path.

  • Patent number: 7587938
Abstract: A thermal gas-flow measuring instrument has a first heating resistor placed in the gas to be measured. A temperature sensing resistor is positioned upstream or downstream of the first heating resistor and generates signals relating to the flow rate. Between the first heating resistor and the support for supporting the first heating resistor is a second heating resistor that is electrically insulated from the first heating resistor. The second heating resistor suppresses the heat being transferred from the first heating resistor to the support. A control circuit controls the temperatures of the first heating resistor and the second heating resistor so that the operational temperature range of the second heating resistor or the temperature range at the joint section between the first heating resistor and the second heating resistor is at or above the temperature at which water droplets evaporate to disappear by film boiling.

  • Patent number: 6142587
Abstract: Anti-lock braking system for an automobile is disclosed. It includes a brake unit that can control brake pressures within wheel cylinders of each road wheels of the automobile separately. In an anti-lock control mode, a control unit is operative to determine a controlled wheel speed for a road wheel to be controlled. The control unit determines a slip of the road wheel based on the determined controlled wheel speed and activates the brake unit in a direction to decrease the determined slip. In determining the controlled wheel speed, the control unit is operative to select a higher one of actual wheel speeds of front and rear road wheels on the opposite side to the side where the road wheel to be controlled exists. Then, the control unit is operative to use, as the controlled wheel speed, a lower one of an actual wheel speed of the road wheel to be controlled and the selected higher one wheel speed.

  • Patent number: 5893896
Abstract: In apparatus and method for stability controlling a vehicular attitude for a vehicle, a slip angle (BETA) of a vehicle body to a vehicular forwarding direction is derived on the basis of a detected yaw rate, a derived vehicle body speed, and a detected lateral acceleration acted upon the vehicle body, a controller determines whether an oversteer condition occurs and/or determined whether an understeer condition occurs, and a braking liquid pressure from a control purpose liquid pressure source is supplied through one of two braking pressure distribution conduits so as to give a braking force to be applied to one of front left and right road wheels which is directed to suppress a yaw moment when the oversteer condition occurs.

  • Patent number: 5206808
Abstract: A vehicle turning behavior control apparatus for use with a multi-wheel automatic vehicle. The apparatus provides a difference between the braking forces applied to the nearside and offside wheels of the vehicle to produce a yaw moment in a direction to which the vehicle turns. The difference is determined based upon the vehicle steering angle and is modified based upon the vehicle lateral slip angle.

  • Patent number: 4876650
Abstract: In order to accomplish the above-mentioned and other objects, an anti-skid control system, takes a procedure for sampling input timing data of every given number of sensor signals, which given number is adjusted so as to a difference of period of time measured with respect to mutually adjacent signal-to-signal intervals is great enough to perform the anti-skid control operation based thereupon. The anti-skid control system processes the input timing data for deriving a wheel speed, a wheel acceleration and deceleration and so forth based on the input timing data. The wheel acceleration and deceleration is calculated based on the successively sampled three input timing data. An input timing data is sampled relative to a first sensor signal at which procedure for determining the input timing data sample mode starts, as a first input timing data.
