    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a linear vibration motor. The motor includes a stator and a vibrator. The stator includes a magnet. The vibrator includes a coil facing the magnet. A weight is coupled to the coil. A PCB is connected to the coil and the stator. An elastic member is coupled to stator and the coil. A damper is provided on the weight at a position facing the elastic member. The damper may be provided between the elastic member and the weight or between the elastic member and the inner surface of a casing. The damper can mitigate metallic high frequency noise attributable to friction between the elastic member and the weight or between the elastic member and the casing. Furthermore, the spatial utilization is increased, thereby enhancing the degree of freedom in designing the linear vibration motor.

The linear type vibration motor in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes a magnet assembly having a pair of magnets, in which same magnetic poles thereof face each other, a magnet casing, which has a hollow part formed therein and houses the magnet assembly in the hollow part, a base, which has a bobbin formed thereon and in which the magnet casing is inserted into the bobbin, a coil, which is coupled to the bobbin, a weight, which is coupled to both ends of the magnet casing, and a pair of elastic bodies, which are interposed between either end of the base and either end of the weight, respectively. Thus, the operating lifetime of the linear type vibration motor can be extended, and this arrangement can prevent the linear type vibration motor from being damaged by an external shock.

A coil is provided above the bracket such that the center axis thereof is oriented in a horizontal direction. The vibration unit is disposed through the coil and comprises a magnetic field generating unit and a weight. The magnetic field generating unit includes a magnet assembly and a yoke. The magnet assembly has magnets which are provided on opposite sides of a magnetic body core such that the similar magnetic poles of the magnets face each other. The weight is mounted to the magnetic field generating unit. The springs are coupled to the casing or the bracket and elastically support the vibration unit.

A spring couples the plate with the yoke, thus transmitting vibratory force to the motor. An extension part extends from an end of the spring, and a bearing is provided on an end of the extension part, thus minimizing friction with the casing.
