  • Patent number: 7320857
Abstract: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (“SARS”) is a human respiratory disease of recent origin, widespread infectivity, recurring incidence, and significant mortality. Although there is abundant evidence suggesting that the coronavirus responsible for the disease (“SARS-CoV”) evolves during an outbreak, there is currently little data on the earliest strains of this coronavirus. The present invention is directed to the characterization of the genomic RNA sequences of these earliest SARS coronaviruses, to the identification of nucleotide positions within the SARS-CoV genomic RNA that are characteristic of the different evolutionary stages of the coronavirus, to kits based on these positions for use in diagnosis of the disease in patients, and for the development of vaccines to the disease based on the lowered virulence and contagiousness of these earliest strains of SARS-CoV.

  • Publication number: 20070080531
Abstract: Disclosed is an impact absorbing device for a steering column of a vehicle. The impact absorbing device includes a bearing and a pipe additionally and the structure of the mounting bracket is modified so that the bearing member and a torque bolt are installed thereto. Therefore, since capsules and the torque bolt are broken in the case of collision of a vehicle, the impact transfer to a shaft through a gear shaft can be prevented, thereby preventing excessive impact and interference with peripheral parts.

  • Publication number: 20070054391
Abstract: A DNA (Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid) detection device and a manufacturing method thereof detects DNA by an electrical method without a separate process for detection by using semiconductor microfabrication techniques. The DNA detection device includes a pair of chambers formed on a semiconductor substrate for accommodating a detection sample, a channel connecting the pair of chambers and a lid covering the pair of chambers. According to the present invention, it is possible to attain a DNA detection device, which can be mass-produced from a silicon substrate by using semiconductor manufacturing technology with improved microfabrication techniques, and a manufacturing method thereof.

  • Publication number: 20060175821
Abstract: A motor driven steering column system of a vehicle capable of interchanging tilt/telescopic modes using a single motor generating driving force by switching power transfer routes of the single motor using a small-sized motor in tilt/telescopic operations. The motor driven steering column system includes a driving motor generating rotational force for tilt/telescopic operations by receiving battery power according to a control signal of a mode control switch, an ECU selectively transferring the rotational force of the driving motor by determining the tilt/telescopic modes according to the control signal of the mode control switch, and a power switching unit controlled by the ECU for operating the motor driven steering column system in a selected mode.

  • Publication number: 20050077159
Abstract: The present invention is a remote control button assembly with a combined type button arrangement structure of a front button and a side button capable of effectively using a front surface engaging region and a lateral surface engaging region of a steering wheel. In the present invention, even when the number of the buttons is increased, it is possible to achieve enough engaging area and sufficient button size for each button so that each button can function effectively and not be too small for the driver. Therefore, handling and operation ability of each button is enhanced. The remote control button assembly built into a steering wheel according to the present invention includes at least more than three front buttons provided on a front surface of a steering wheel, and at least one side button provided in a lower portion of a lateral surface of one side of the engaging region in which the front buttons are provided.
