    Abstract: A microfluidic platform including a microfluidic layer and a contact layer. The microfluidic layer is embedded with a microfluidic structure including a micro-channel and a fluidic sample contained in the micro-channel. The contact layer is able to be attached to the microfluidic layer, and includes a first heater for heating a first area of the microfluidic structure to a first temperature and a second heater for heating a second area of the microfluidic structure to a second temperature. The microfluidic layer and the contact layer rotate together during operation. A method for controlling a sample in the micro-channel of the microfluidic structure.

    Abstract: An overload protection in a drive unit for a steady or jack for a caravan comprises an electro-mechanical control system. A spindle is driven by a motor through a gearbox, wherein the motor is controlled through a power supply. A control device in the system comprises a movable part slidably seated on an output shaft of the gearbox, where the movable part is connected with the spindle. Movement between the shaft and the sliding part is counteracted by springs. The slidable part is provided with actuating points that may contact switches by axial movements. When a nut on the spindle reaches an end position, a reactive force in the spindle will cause the part to move against the force of springs, eventually actuating a switch and thereby causing interruption of the circuit, thereby protecting motor and engagement between nut and spindle from electric and mechanical overload.

    Abstract: High frequency capacitance measurement on a single strand of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) or a ribonucleic acid (RNA) is employed to provide identification of the nucleotides in the strand. Effect of variations in the capacitance of nucleotides can be minimized by employing statistical quantities generated from multiple measurement values on a strand of DNA or RNA nucleotides, or by employing a program that positively identifies a large capacitance nucleotide upon detection of a large capacitance. Capacitance data on a DNA strand can be used as a criterion for identifying the DNA sequence in conjunction with other methods for identifying the DNA sequence.

    Abstract: A satellite thermal infrared technique for short-term and impending prediction of strong earthquakes, by use of polar orbit satellites, geosynchronous satellite and meteorological satellites, combined with other satellites carrying scanners with infrared waveband, satellite receiving equipment and image processing equipment, in which the color density in a meteorological satellite thermal infrared map are divided into grades, which are adaptable to different seasons and latitudes. The brightness temperature data collected from infrared scanners are used to obtain the absolute temperature through atmospheric model corrections. The phenomena of temperature decreasing ring may appear over the cloud layers within the earthquake-pregnant region. Odd shaped clouds may appear in the sky over the earthquake-pregnant before quaking.
